The Wildcats broke Into an early lead, capitalizing on a pair of first quarter Vik bob bles, then came on strong in the second half to outclass the visitors. . Recovering a Myrtle Creek fumble on the first play of the game after kicking off, the! Wildcats marched 25 yards for the initial six points, Bob Paul son ripped of the final one yard to pay dirt. Seconds later the Wildcats re covered another Viking bobble, this time on the Myrtle Creek 10-yard line. Two plays later Paulson again provided the pow er this time smashing his way into the end zone irom the four-yard marker. The two teams then settled into a defensive battle for the remainder of the first half, with the intermission score favoring Glide, 12-0. In the third quarter the Wild cals once again capitalized on a recovered fumble falling on the ball on the Myrtle Creek 26. Dan Forrest rambled the final five yards for the TD and Paulson kicked the extra point. Turning on the steam in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats added 13 points to their total. four-yard plunge and Craig Long rambled 42 yards with an intercepted pass. Paulson kick ed the PAT after Anderson's TD The victory kept the Wildcats in the running for the UVL crown with a 2-1 record, while the Vikings now sport a 1-2 league mark. Glide and Riddle are tied for second place in the current standings behind the Douglas Trojans. The Trojans top the list with a 3-0 record In Saturday's battle, the Wild cats' defense gave the Vikings just 56 yards rushing and 65 yards passing. However, Myr tle Creek came up with a total of 12 first downs, while the win ncrs had just seven. Myrtle Creek's passing yardage came on eight completions out of 26 attempts as the Vikings filled the air with footballs. Each team lost three fumbles, but the Wildcats were able to capitalize on the Myrtle Creek miscucs as they gained posses sion deep in the opposition's ter ritory each time. Glide punted four times for an average of 30.2 yards-per-kick, while Myr tle Creek averaged 25.6 yards per kick on four punts. The Wildcats lost 25 yards on five penalties and the invaders were penalized five times for 35 yards. Berry completed 13 of 18 pass attempts for, 190 yards includ ing a 10-yard touchdown aerial Speede Anderson scored on alpass interception (kick failed). r X I lea Fremont Gridders Upend Marshfield Fremont's Generals rolled to a decisive 26-0 triumph over the host Marshfield freshmen in a Saturday gridiron battle. Brad Cummings paced the Generals to the victory with three six pointers. Cummings put the winners on top in the first period when he broke into the clear and galloped 88 yards for a TD. In the third quarter the Gen erals racked up 14 points to ice the victory. Cummings scor ed the two third quarter TDs on passes of 50 and 45 yards from Ron Frashour and Kent Cummins respectively.
