Collier of tins city spent last weekend in Brookings, Ore. visiting their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hobert Collier, and family. Orval Petersen Jr. and daugh ter, Elizabeth, of Portland, spent tne weekend Here visiting the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Petersen, on SE Overlook Ave. The F. S. Club will meet at a potluck luncheon at 1 p.m. Wed nesday at the home of Mrs. Walt er Singleton at 2064 SE Douglas Ave. Those attending are asked to bring their food for the lunch eon and their own table service. Mrs. Lm Hargls and children. Ricky, Sybee and Rachel, of Amer ican Lake, Wash, spent the week end ana Monday in KoscBure vis King her parents, Dr. and Mrs. John Haskins. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hargis are working at the VA Hospital at American Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McKenna and family, who are vacationing here visiting Mrs. McKenna s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harris Ells worth, in Laurelwood, spent the weekend at the coast, nicy plan to leave Thursday for their home in Santa Fe, N. M. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Plumlee and son, David, have returned to their home in Los Angeles, fol lowing a stay here visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Plum lee, on Fremont St. and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Serafin. 889 SE Chad- wick. Mrs. Flumlee is the former Alayne Serafin. Mr. and Mrs. George Barclay of this city have roturned to their home on W. Oriole from a week's trip to Shawnee, Okla., where Mrs. Barclay was called by the death of her father. Mrs. Barclay has returned to her work at Mil ler's Department Store. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Crouch and children Merle Jr., David, Dennis and Tina Marie have sold their home in Melrose and are leaving this week for Ft, Smith, Ark., where they will make their homo. The Crouches, area residents for many years, expect to go into the cattle business in Arkansas. Miss Barbara Brand and Carl Zenha of Medford brought Mrs. Anna Watkins of Portland from Grants Pass to Roseburg over the weekend and visited the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Brand, in Westmoreland. Mrs. Watkins, who is an aunt of Mrs. Brand, has spent the summer here visiting at the Brand home and the last couple of weeks in Grants Pass visiting her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. James Gwaltney and daughter, Janet, have re turned to their home in Roseburg, following a four-day stay in Port land attending to business. While there they enjoyed visiting two lormcr Roseburg families, Dr. and Mrs. Paul Mctzgcr and Dr. and Mrs. Carl Bonner, both of whom now live in Cedar Ms. Beaver- ton. Both Mctzger and Bonner were formerly at the VA Hospital nere. Mrs. Raymond Horton of 1431 NW Jefferson. Roscburu. nccom panicd by her sons, is spending the week in Astoria attending to family affairs following the sud den death in that city Aug. 8 of Mrs. Morton s mother, Mrs. Ella Simonsen. Mr. Horton and the Horton's daughter; Louise, attend cd the funeral held Saturday in Astoria, and have relumed to Roseburg. Miss Marty Lasche worked several years with Dr. Haskins at Morningside Hos pital in Portland. Mrs. William (Betty Byrd) Saari and children, Linnae and Willy, of Seattle, have returned to their home, following a trip here to visit the former's father, J. F. Byrd, and Mrs. Byrd. Also here to visit Mr. Byrd were his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Byrd, of Grants Pass. Mrs. D. E. Hughes and sons, Don and Scott, left Sunday for their home in Portland, following a visit here with the former's sister in - law, Mrs. James H. Harris, and family, in Laurelwood. Mrs. Hughes' husband, who is a brother of Mrs. Harris, is skipper of the rescue ship, "The McGinty," which is now en route to Hawaii. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Flower, who reside in the Yakima, Wash, valley, have arrived hero to visit the latter's father, Dr. Keith Bry ant, and Mrs. Bryant, on SE Azalea Drive. They spent a part of their vacation at the coast. Mrs. Reba Hartley has moved from the Rifle Range Road home of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Marr to the nursing unit of Mercy Hos pital. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Deets of Portland, former residents of this city, were recent visitors here at the home of the latter's mother, Mrs. J. F. Byrd, and Mr. Byrd. Mrs. Byrd also enjoyed a visit from her son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Whipple of Drain: her son and uauEhtcr-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Wick ham, of Eugene, and her grand children, Lori and Bruce Searl, of Drain. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Neubauer and son Davey, 2, were recent visitors at the home of Mrs. Can aday on their way home to Van couver, Wash., following a tuur of historical places over a 32-state area. Mrs. Neubauer is the form er Carolyn Burr of Roseburg. The extended vacation started at the closo of school where Mr. and Mrs. Neubauer are employed as teachers in Vancouver. The cou ple began their tour in South Da kola and toured the eastern sea board as well as visiting Toronto, Canada. While visiting in Rose burg Mrs. Canaday arranged a birthday dinner for Mrs. Neubauer and Mrs. Jesse Hersher.
