Blatt said decreases and rises in crops in The Dalles paralled those for Oregon and the nation. He said the cherry crop was 66 per cent below the 10 year pro duction average in Oregon and 68 below the 10 year average in Wasco County. The firm denies damage to cherry crops and said growers have adequate remedy in claims it has been paying for damage to other fruit crops. It denied, how ever that the fluorides reduce any crops. Blatt also said the plant has added about $12 million a year to the economy of The Dalles area. He said it has a $3.6 million pay roll for 550 to 650 employes. He said the firm accounts for 23 per cent of all business activity in The Dalles. The hearing opened last week with the fruit growers giving their side. In a interview in the Septem ber issue of Playboy magazine, Burton, one of the world's most famous Shakespearean Actors, said he felt Miss Taylor would be "right" for the part. "For one thing she speaks poetry rather well," Burton said. "And for another, she's very re ceptive to big, imperious ideas." Playboy asked Burton if he felt any guilt about his relationship with Miss Taylor, with whom he starred in "Cleopatra." They have adjoining hotel suits in Lon don. "No. Absolutely not," Burton said. "I'm not unfaithful to my wife. I never have been, not for a moment." "What I have done is to move outside the accepted idea of monogamy without physically in vesting the other person with any thing that makes me feel guilty," Burton said. "So that I remain inviolate, untouched. " "And does Miss Taylor?" Play boy asked. "Yes," Burton said. "I'm a ter rible Puritan, you see, despite my attempts -to be anything else. Burton said it was "absolute nonsense" that Miss Taylor is the most beautiful woman in the world. "She's a pretty girl of course," Burton said, "and she has won derful eyes; but she has a double chin and an overdeveloped chest and she's rather short in the leg."
