They made the trip in order that Mrs. Floyd Lewis, left, could attend the 50th anniversary of tier commencement at University of Ore gon in Eugene. Mrs. Lewis is the former Ruth Gibson. Her sister is Mrs. Sybil Gerlack. Their fother was Thomas Gibson, weatherman in Roseburg in the 1900s. A brother, Irving is on attorney in Socramento, Calif. (News-Review Photo). . ' I -p. f MR. AND MRS. GROVER DAVIS, Days Creek, celebrated their golden wedding anniversory at a delightful open house held ot the IOOF Hall in Conyonville. Golden Wedding Is Large Affair A host of friends greeted Mr. and Mrs. Grover Davis ot Days Creek with felicitations at an open house Saturday afternoon, honor ing their golden wedding annivers ary. Mrs. Davis was lovely In a blue lace over pink dress, with a white and lavender orchid corsage, a gift of her daughter, Mrs. Richard Weisgcrber. The IOOF Hull In Canyonville, where the reception was held, was decorated with bouquets of . iris. The guests of honor presided at the guest book table, and greeted the visitors as they arrived. Their son, Grover Leo Davis, acted as host. licfreshments were served from a lace over gold covered table with a beautiful centerpiece of hawthornc, snowballs and ferns in the shape of a large star. The arrangement had been made by Mrs. Fredrick King, a nicco of tho Daviscs. Mrs. Weisgcrber presided at the lacc-covcrcd gift table containing a gold money tree and many gold trimmed gifts. Mrs. Wilfred Cameron, sister of Mr. Davis, and Mrs. Otis Davis, sister-in-law of Mr. Davis and Mrs. King, took turns in pouring coffee, presiding at the punch bowl, and serving the cake, after the guesls-of-honor had cut the first pieco. Mr. and Mrs. Davis were mar ried in Dcs Moines, Iowa, by a Methodist minister May 11, 1912. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Davis, Mrs. King, Mrs. Weisgcrber and Grover 1.CC Davis, all came from Bell flower. MYERS of Tiller was Edith Bradshaw of Conyonville before her marriage in Park Wedding Chapel in Reno, Nev. Mrs. and Mrs. Myers are now ot home to friends in Tiller. OkihiTri-Hi-Y Has Installation Okihi Tri-Hi-Y recently held a candlelight installatioifin the home of Mrs. Corinne McTaggart follow ing a progressive dinner in the homes of Sherry Lemon and Lynda cummins. Those installed wore Priscilla Fair, president; Heather McTag gart, vice president; Sherry Lem on, secretary; Darlcne Pearson, treasurer; and Sherry Engle, chap. lin. Retiring officers were Lynda Cummins, president; Lynette Cnt tendon, vice president; Gail White, secretary; Heather McTaggart, treasurer; and Priscilla Fair, chap- Iain. During the meeting those who attended youth and government in Salem reported on the highlights of their trip. Discussion was held on a dance held last Saturday at th YMCA with Dick Booth spinning records. Seventh Graders Are Entertained The seventh grade at Days Creek School enjoyed a party in tho home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Craig ot Days Creek. Dinner was served to the group, after which Oral Jones took them on a hay ride to Tiller and back. Dancing and vis iting completed the evening. Those attending were: Larry Lamm, Rodney Jones, Benny Ben son, David LaOhanee, Sally White, Colleen Martin, Karen Martin and LaJcannc Kline and Wanda Craig. Yoncalla Girl Now Mrs. Peters Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Tucker of Yonenlla announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Nancy Al exander, to Billy James Peters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Peters of Bandon. The bridegroom has lived in southern Douglas Coun ty for a number of years and is employed in the logging Industry by Carpenter & Wood. Friends of the couple gathered at the Myers home Saturday night for a charivari. Anderson of Heppncr and is completing her sophomore year at college. Mr. Linton is the son of Mrs. Hans Rosengrecn of Riddle and Lynn R. Linton of Bra vcrton. He will be a junior at Oregon College of Education this fall. A September wedding is plan ned. Seven members were present. They included Orlcna Slattcry, Poail Shugart, Lucinda Long, Gold ie, Mary end Kate Millikin and Zanna Keller. The latter three are charter members. Refreshments included a deli cious cake which had been mak by Mrs. Slattery. The women enjoyed reminiscing about meetings which took place in the Roseburg Armory befort it' wa taken over in World War 11 by the National Guard.
