Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lloyd of this city spent Sunday in Eugene attending the commencement ex ercises at University of Oregon where their son, Ralph C. Barker, received his bachelor of science degree in the school of law. Ralph will resume his studies in the law school in September. Department Commander and Mrs. Ralph Aylesworth were among those from Roseburg who attended the Veterans of World War I state convention in Newport Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Others going from this area were Art Wirss, commander of Douglas Barracks; Mrs. Wirss, president of the auxiliary; Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Bartlett, Mr. and Mrs. Al bert Schenaman, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Andrus and Dick Hagan. Wallace Singleton is remaining here to attend to prop erty interests, while his wife, who visited with relatives and friends, has returned to their home in Whittier, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. John Rast of Washington, C. D., who came to Oregon especially to attend the 50th anniversary celebration Fri day and Saturday of University of Oregon, are now in Roseburg to enjoy several weeks visiting the former s sisters and brolher. Mrs S. L. Kidder and Miss Gertrude and Del Rast. Rast is a retired government employee. He received a certificate at the anniversary celebration showing he is now a member of the 50-Year Club of U. of O. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bevers of the North Umpqua Highway near Glide were visited recently by for mer Roseburg people, Mr. and Mrs.' Ben Jorgeward, now of Se attle. Other recent visitors were old friends and former neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Yarnell from Yorba Linda, Calif. They stayed for two days. The Yarnells had attended the Seattle World's Fair and points of interest in Oregon. St. Onge has returned to her home on W. Foothill Drive, following a visit in Portland with her two daughters. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Bouslog of Sharon Springs, Kansas, have been visiting relatives in Roseburg. They came especially for the wedding baturday of their granddaughter, Judy Stewart, and Kenneth Ma honey. Laielle and Grace Rose, W li ma Blair, Myrtle Cloud, John Lar son and Ben Zellmer, representing the Riddle-Roseburg area of Coot ies and Cootiettes, with Ed Hoover, department hospital chairman, as sisted at the VA Hospital with the Volunteer Services department. Dr. and Mrs. Charles K. Todd of this city spent the weekend in Portland visiting relatives and friends. They attended the wed ding of the latter's nephew, who is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Perkins, former residents of this city. Donald F. Carries of Eugene, brother of Mrs. Kenneth Aycrs of Roseburg, received his BS degree in business administration from the University of Oregon last Sunday and has taken an administrative position with Safeway in Eugene. Carnes, a former Roseburg resi dent, was graduated from Rose burg High School in 1948. He re sumed his education after duty with the armed forces. He is mar ried and has three children. Amateur Rockets Regulation Mulled WASHINGTON (AP)-As a safety move, the Federal Aviation Agency wants advance notice when amateur rocketeers plan to hurl their spacecraft skyward. It has proposed a regulation which would require not only 24 to 48 hours advance notice of such firings but also would ban night launchings and rocket firings within five miles of an airport. The proposed regulation, how ever, won't apply to toy and model rockets weighing less than a pound and having less than five ounces of propellents.
