o o o o o Dixonville Resident Is Back From Vacation Trip In Canada By JEAN RADCLIFFE Sue Hill has returned home from a week's vacation trip with her father, Ralph Hill and ber step sister. The group toured Vancouver Is land, then stopped over one night in Seattle, Wash. They also visit ed relatives in Spokane, Wash. Sightseeing in Victoria, B.C., was also enjoyed. En route home they spent some time at Sisters. Portland. Visit Visiting in the Calvin Christen sen home recently was his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Christensen of Portland. Janell and Janice Chalker have returned home from a two-month vacation spent in Portland visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Morberg and Former Tenmiler In Acting Role By MRS. WALTER COATS Gordon Howard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Howard of Tenmile has a part in the play, "Fiorello,1 now playing on Broadway in New York City. Couple Makes Trip Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ollivant of Olalla made a trip to Stockton, Calif., recently to visit the latter's niece, Minnie Burford, who has been seriously ill. Mrs. Ollivant's sister-in-law, Mrs. Burford Steele of San Francisco, returned home with them. They later attended a family re union at the home of their grand son, Gail Friend, and family in Medford and the next day a fam ily get-together at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gourley at Grants Pass. The Ollivants and Mrs. Steele attended the wedding of Miss Lillian Homolka in Spring field, going from there to Salem to visit Mrs. Olhvant s nephew, Darvin Stone, and family and with the Stones' son, Donald, and family who were visiting his parents. They came home by way of the coast highway. Mrs. Rommie Walker and daugh ter Trudy of Ashland are spending two weeks at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph How ard of Tenmile, while her husband is attending National Guard Camp at Seaside. Mrs. Ralph Howard and daugh tcrs. Wanda Howard of Tenmile and Mrs. Rommie Walker of Ash land, drove to Springfield recently to attend the wedding of Miss Lil lian Holmoka at the Catholic Church. The Homolkas are former resid ents of Tenmile. She is a grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rowell who formerly owned the Tenmile Store. Also attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Heater of Roseburg, Mrs. norma Alackey of Olalla and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Adamak of Powers. baby are now living in the com munity. They lormerly lived in! Santa Rosa, Calif. Mrs. Morberg is the former Susie Welton. Mr. and Mrs. George James and five children are spending a few days in Portland where they are combining a pleasure and business trip. Wadsworths Visited Guests of the Jim Wadsworths are Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Sterling and children of La Puenta, Calif. Oth er visitors from California are Mr. and Mrs. Oakley Olson and chil dren. Ellen Gurnee of Portland is here to spend a vacation with her son, and family, the Elward Smiths. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond McCor- mack of Springfield are visiting friends and relatives in the com munity. Recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Carl C. Hill were her sister, Alice Morrison of Brookings, and her son, Alvis Creason of Las Vegas, Nevada. Other visitors were Dav id and Johnny Creason of Harris I burg. Pa. Carson Family Her Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Keene and the Glen Wrights re cently were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Car son and daughter of Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Charon and baby are occupying one of the L. U Harpole rentals on the old Dix onville Road. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Starnes and baby, formerly of the Dixonville Road, have moved to Portland. While here they attended the 1941 high school reunion banquet at the Ump qua Hotel and the dance at the Elks ballroom. Nevadans Leave Mr. and Mrs. John Tinker and daughter have left for Fallon, Nev., to get the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Searle, who have been visiting with their son-in-law and daughter. Air. and Mrs. Albert Cromwell. Later, Mrs. Tink er and daughter will take them to their home in Freedom, Okla. Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Sorensen and children of Seattle have ar rived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Lucas to visit. They are on their way to Los Angeles where they will be for three months then will go to Africa. The Sorensons brought Mrs. Ada Durch home from Portland where she had been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Durch and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Durch. Oaklanders Visited ByVisalia Family By EDITH DUNN Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dawson and! sons of Visalia, Calif., visited re cently with the former s aunt, Mrs. E. M. Dunn. They were dinner guests one evening of Mr. and Mrs. Carl: Dunn. The Dawsons were on their way to Washington and Idaho to see relatives. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Anderson ofi Oakland spent a recent Sunday with the latter's sister, Mrs. Mary Glossop of Eugene. They also vis ited Mrs. Anderson's niece. Mrs. Marjorie Arnold, who is a patient at hacred Heart in Eugene. Mrs. Arnold has been confined to the hospital two and a half months. recovering from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She is getting along satisfactorily and is able to sit up part of the time. Mrs. Ethel Truitt spent the week end in Oakland, returning early in the week to Bend where she is convalescing.
