Mrs. Spurlock teaches in t b e Camas Valley Grade school. Former Resident Succumbs Word has been received of the sudden death of former resident, Art Williams. Mrs. Williams, now residing in Los Angeles, wrote to friends the area stating her husband had been on a prospecting trip in Can ada and died of an apparent heart attack. He was buried in Canada Mr. and Mrs. Jess McMasters spent the weekend at several coast al poonts. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Catchpole drove to Diamond Lake for an overnight camping trip last week end. County Fair Attended Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thrush spent Uio past weekend at Gold Beach as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Huston Barton and family. They visited the Curry County Fair while in the area. Mrs. Barton and Mrs. Thrush are cousins. Dwain Brown. Erie Biker. Ed die Nichols and Larry Parrett drove to Portland for a weekend visit. Barnharts Of Riddle Leave To Make Home In Colorado By ERMA BEST Mrs. Alvin Barnhart and 'four children have left to join Barnhart in Greeley, Colo., where he has been working on bis doctorate at the University of Colorado. They were accompanied by Mrs. Dale Rushton who will join her husband at the University of Wyo ming where he has been attending summer school. Mrs. Barnnarls father, R. A. Moen of Coos Bay, also accompanied them, driving a truckioad of the Barnhart furni ture. Jim Schny has purchased the Barnhart home on the Glen- brook Loop Road and will occupy it with his family. Gats Matter's Degree H. A. Pcden, Riddle eighth grade teacher, has returned from summer school at Oregon State University, Corvallis, where he earned his master's degree in ed ucation. Mr. and Mrs. Peden and daughter havcleft on a short out ing to the coast. They were ac companied by the Pedens' son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Peden, visitors from Port Angeles, wasn. Addis spent the weekend at Gold Beach where they enjoyed fishing, bringing home two nice salmon. Akcr Jr.' and Mrs. Aker were, in Junction City Small Plane Prop Decapitates Man SITKA. Alaska (AP) A fish ing trip to nearby lakes ended in tragedy here Thursday as Edwin Greenhalgh, 43, was killed Instant ly when he walked into the pro pollor of a small plane. Greenhalgh, a retired barber and former city policeman, Ernest Baughn of Sitka and Lester Buck man of Baldwin, N.Y., were re turning from the trip in Buckman's four-place plane. Buckman said the engine was turned off but the propellor had not yet come to a standstill. Greenhalgh jumped onto the plane float to tie up the plane and, ap parently not hearing warning shouts, walked into the prop and was decapitated. Buckman, here on a flying tour of Alaska, met Greenhalgh and Baughn when he was weathered in here the first part of the week. Greenhalgh was born at Yaki ma, Wash, Surviving are his wid ow, Mary Jo, three children by a lormcr marriage, living in Anchor age, and his mother, Mrs. George Chasses of Veda, Oregon. The body was sent south and funeral services are tentatively set for Monday at Yakima. recently for Mayors Day at the Scandanaviao Festival. Some forty mayors were guests for the occa sion, Gov. Mark Hatfield was a guest. Recent guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Powell were the tatter's aunt, Mrs. Gail Wilson of Los Gatos, Cam., and her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Dauster Baker of White City.
