The project is being pushed by Downtown Porks Unlimited ond the Roseburg Chamber of Commerce. Mem bers of the Downtown Parks organization and the cham ber's City Beautification Com mittee will go to work on the pork Saturday, April 15. The committees have asked for donations of such things as holly, Oregon grape ond bar berries, as well as broken concrete.. Bipartisan Group To Study Expenses Of Legislators SALEM (AP) A four-member bipartisan subcommittee to con aider legislative pay and expenses was named today by Chairman Norman Howard, D-Porlland, of the House State and Federal Af fairs Committee. The committee was instructed to study all of the various meas ures to increase the legislators' SBOO annual pay. It alsw will studv the nrohlem of paying legislators for their I legislative expenses. The Supreme Court ruled constitutional last Fri day the resolution to pay each legislator up to $7.1 a month ex penses during sessions and up to $150 a month between sessions. The subcommittee will try to make rules on what are the legis lative expenses that could he paid. The Constitution bars payment of personal expenses. The committee already has voted for the principle of a resolu tion that would have annual ses sions and legislators fix their own salaries. 1 ! Glide Community Club Plans Entertainment The Vilide Community Club has planned an evening of entertain ment at t o'clock Saturday at the Tlubhouse, reports Mrs. Arthur Sol cy, correspondent. ' The Chile Shufflers Club will Jive an exhibition square dance at 4:30 p.m. Hob Hamer will give a brief history of the aquare dance. Card games and games for adults will follow with movies for the children. Members of the Community Club are requested In bring rake or rookies. The public ia invited, no admission charge. Lawson have returned home from North Bend, where they have spent sev eral weeks at the home of their son, George Lawson ,)r,, and fam ily, helping care for their 15 months-old grandson and their new granddaughter, who was horn ! March 12. Sunday, April 9, they ! were sponsors for their grand-' daughter, Janel Evon, who was j received into the Lutheran Church through Holy Baptism at North! Bend. Dr. and Mrs. Clifford Htin had as guests over the weekend the latter s father, Elder J. J. Rei swig, of Lodi, Calif. Keiswig is well known in the Pacific North west, for he was president of the Montana Conference of Seventh day Adventists and had visited in the Roseburg area a number of times. Later he held a similar pos ition in one of the New York con ferences and at present is associ ate pastor ot the rairmont Adven tist Church in Lodi. He assisted with the Sabbath service in the Roseburg Church Saturday. NEW DEVELOPMENTS in the field of artificial insemin ation of livestock, other than dairy cattle, have influenced the Oregon' Dairy Breeder's Association to change their name. The new name will be Oregon Breeders Association. This name change will enable the' Association to have more flexibility' and to expand their activities into other fields of livestock breeding. Glenn H. Wison, assistant manager of the Oregon Breeders Assn., is applying a new emblem to one of the field cars.
