Bipartisan Group
To Study Expenses
Of Legislators
SALEM (AP) A four-member
bipartisan subcommittee to con
aider legislative pay and expenses
was named today by Chairman
Norman Howard, D-Porlland, of
the House State and Federal Af
fairs Committee.
The committee was instructed
to study all of the various meas
ures to increase the legislators'
SBOO annual pay.
It alsw will studv the nrohlem
of paying legislators for their I
legislative expenses. The Supreme
Court ruled constitutional last Fri
day the resolution to pay each
legislator up to $7.1 a month ex
penses during sessions and up to
$150 a month between sessions.
The subcommittee will try to
make rules on what are the legis
lative expenses that could he paid.
The Constitution bars payment of
personal expenses.
The committee already has
voted for the principle of a resolu
tion that would have annual ses
sions and legislators fix their
own salaries. 1 !
Any measure to increase the
salanca would hava to be referred
ia the people.

The Vilide Community Club has
planned an evening of entertain
ment at t o'clock Saturday at the
Tlubhouse, reports Mrs. Arthur Sol
cy, correspondent.
' The Chile Shufflers Club will

4:30 p.m. Hob Hamer will give a
brief history of the aquare dance.
Card games and games for adults
will follow with movies for the

as guests over the weekend the
latter s father, Elder J. J. Rei
swig, of Lodi, Calif. Keiswig is
well known in the Pacific North
west, for he was president of the
Montana Conference of Seventh
day Adventists and had visited in
the Roseburg area a number of
times. Later he held a similar pos
ition in one of the New York con
ferences and at present is associ
ate pastor ot the rairmont Adven
tist Church in Lodi. He assisted
with the Sabbath service in the
Roseburg Church Saturday.
NEW DEVELOPMENTS in the field of artificial insemin
ation of livestock, other than dairy cattle, have influenced
the Oregon' Dairy Breeder's Association to change their
name. The new name will be Oregon Breeders Association.
This name change will enable the' Association to have
more flexibility' and to expand their activities into other
fields of livestock breeding. Glenn H. Wison, assistant
manager of the Oregon Breeders Assn., is applying a new
emblem to one of the field cars.
