Oakland PTA To Hear Guest Spa& At UssAsf f$sstS& By MRS. EDITH DUNN 5Irs. Robert Franks, blood re cruitment chairman for DourIus County, will speak at the Oakland PTA meeting, .Monday at 7:31) n.m. The meeting will take place ui the Lincoln School. Tre sixth, seventh and eiphth grade rooms will be open for par ent's viewing. A musical program by the 54 voice high school chorus, under the direction of Richard Kaiser, will be given. Dr. and Mrs. Homer M. Noble of Port Orfbrd visited friends in Oakland recently. Dr. Noble had charge of services at Oakland Community Presbyterian Church Sunday morning. A special coiice hour was held in their honor. Mr. and Mrs. Martin League of Drain attended church services at Oakland Presbyterian Church re cently. Littles Visit Seattle Mr. and Mrs. Vern Little visited in Seattle over a recent weekend. Harriet-Rosa Circle of Oakland Community Presbyterian Church met at the home of Mrs. Ned Burpee recently. Work was done on bazaar articles. Common People Touch Urged By Methodists CINCINNATI, Ohio (AP) -Methodists were told Meth odism "cannot win the cities nor keep the countryside if we do not identify ourselves more fully with the so-called common people." Dr. Walter G. Muelder. dean of the Boston University School of Theology, urged members of the Methodist Conference on Chris tian Kducation to make a concert ed effort to reach the laboring classes, the families with small incomes, and persons of lower educational attainment for church enrollment. "To this must be added," he said, "an intensified effort to reach more persons who are non white in other ways than through segregated channels." A talk on Scotland was given bv the ACWW Chairman Mrs. Archer. The December meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Ralph Karlingcr. Mrs. Ruth Bunch and Mrs. Mary Lee will give a demon stration of driftwood and winter 1 flower arrangements.
