o o Court Says Only So Much Can Be Hoped In Surgery PARIS (API - A Pans civil court ruled here that a 56ear-! old woman shouldn't demand the i impossible from a plastic surgeon, and should he happy with any im provements he can make. The suit was brought by Gita I-pibman de Kassel, an American who lives in Mexico. She asked 50 million francs $119.00 dam ages from France's famed plastic surgeon, ur. jean voisin. Court proceedings disclosed she came to Voisin with a request that I he remove certain faatal wrinkles, smooth pouches beneath her eyes, make her look more youthful and give her bosom a youthful line. All but the last was successful, she admitted in her complaint, but that was a disaster. She claimed the surgery left her with scars jwhich show when she wears low cut evening; dresses. She also claimed the scars adversely af fected certain marriage plans, and contended the doctor had not warned her that lifting the bosom would cause some scars. The court sided with Voisi threw out the suit, and said: "At a certain age one should not de mand the impossible." ' tei ' V 'V. sx f Frl. No. 21, J Tha. MaMsav&at, RoMbttrf, Of. J. S. Baker said the price war would mean disaster for some as. 000 persons dependent on the service station business for a livelihood. The major oil companies could stop this price slashing within 24 hours by exercising price, control, he said. "Since these major oil compan ies seem to have accepted the fact that they can operate at a lower price to themselves than their announced wholesale price, we believe that the only honest course open to them would be a realistic reduction in the price and releasing the retail service station industry from their mono polistic control." Baker said. Regular gasoline is selling for ?5 to 26 cents a gallon in the Portland area and the Willamette Valley. Public health authorities point out that having weapons to fight tuberculosis is not enough without public cooperation. They recom mend that everyone have a regular complete physical examination, preferably once a year, which I snouia inciuue enner a SKin lest or j chest X-ray. i A community tuberculosis detec ' lion campaign is being conducted for Douglas County school children with their parent's permissions. The test is given with a drop or two of tuberculin, which is injected into the ckin of the forearm. The tuberculin is a liquid which con tains some of the proteins or protein-products of the tuberculosis germs, and it causes a small lo calized reaction on the skin of a person whose body has ever been infected wilh these germs. "Reading is usually done 48 to 72 hours later. If the reaction is of certain size, it indicates to the phy sician that the person at some time has harbored tuberculosis terms. A reaction does not necessarily mean i the person has the disease, so fur j ther tests are necessary for anv i one classified as positive to the skin test. X-Ray Taken The next step Is a chest X-ray, which shows whether the germs have started an active infection, have at some time been active but are now dormant, or are merely temporarily in the person. If the X-ray shows activity, the State Board of Health is cooperating with other local health departments to have an X-ray unit available for all positive reactors. Upon the results of all this testing and evaluation, and not before, can a diagnosis of tuberculosis he made. Ixical health departments gave 41.645 tuberculin skin tests in Ore gon last year, and the Stata Board of Health X-ray vans provided screening to twice that many peo ple. Additional thousands were test ed or X-rayed through private phy sicians, hospitals, and programs of the state and local tuberculosis and health associations. 10 TRADE AGREEMENT P1IOM PENH, Cambodia (AP Cambodia and Communist North Viet Nam ngned a trade agree ment here this week after 10 days of negotiations.
