Frances Carnes acted as installing officer. Frances Hedden reported that she and Frances Carnes attended the lodge in Rosehurg recently when Rebekah President Edna Os-1 ter paid her official visit. Sew Gowns The Christian Women's Fellow ship met at the church recently to sew new hospital gowns to be sent overseas to the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Haiti. Several boxes of clothing were packed to send to White Swan Mission in Washington. The K.Ik ton Home Extension I'nit met at the Christian Church recently with Mrs. Carol Dawson speaking on room decoration. A short business meeting was held following the luncheon. The next home extension meet ing will be Dec. 11 at the Christian Church wilh the project to be making Christmas corsages. SPRAYS RAGWEED SALEM (AP) The state Agri culture Department said today it sprayed 10.2(10 acres of ragweed infested lands in Western Oregon this year. This includes 8.57 acres in Jo sephine County. 1.500 in Jackson, 825 in Clackamas, 812 in Marion. GEORGE EOES The Yoncalla PTA reports 2.11 hoys and 2.15 girls in the Yoncalla community, in its census, for which they received 1100. At a recent meeting of the group, the treasurer reported a balance of $2:i8!)5 as of Nov. 1. Following the business meeting, William Lewellen, grade school principal, spoke on "Fifty Years of Education." Students and teachers participated in the program which portrayed the difference in educa tion 50 years ago and today, and the average of students who com pleted high school then and today. Participants were dressed in clothes representing the period ttiey were portraying. The next meeting will ba Deo. S in the high school. Baiaar Held The Women's Society of Chris tian Service of the Yoncalla Meth odist Church held its annual Christ mas bazaar at the church and net ted about J200. The Methodist Youth Fellowship had a cookie and candy booth which profited about $22. Members of the Yoncalla Saddle Club held an indoor picnic recent ly at the Rod and Gun Club. A weiner roast followed the business meeting. The Hice Valley Home Econom ics Club held an all-day meeting at the Rice Hall recently and re ceived a lesson on home decora tions from Mrs. Carol Dawson, county agent. There will be a fish pond for children, cooked food, a grab bag, hand made articles, babyware, aprons, religious articles and a white elephant table, according to Sue Sikstrom, News-Review corre spondent. Glide Boy Uninjured Although Struck By Car A seven-year-old Glide boy was knocked to the street by a motorist Wednesday afternoon but was reported uninjured after ex amination by a local physician. ftoseburg police identined the child as Bill v Glassford. He ran suddenly in front of a car driven by Mrs. Virginia Lynch. 807 W. Kenwood St., in the vicinity of Harvard Ave. and Chatham Dr., according to police reports. Police said Mrs. Lynch stopped the car quickly when contact was made and was driving slowly at the time. The youngster was taken to a doctor for examination and released. Stolen Automobile Takei Teeners On Wild Chat KINO MAN. Aril. (AP) An automobile stolen at Hood River, Ore., carried two teenagers on a wild chase through Northwestern Arizona this week. It was halted when a date patrolman drove his car into the rear and stalled it. Arrested were Bill Spires, IS, and Carl Edward Tuttle, 17, both of Phoenix. Patrolman Kloyd Cisney said they and another youth, Douglas Reid. 17, Pacoima, Calif., ad mitted stealing the car at Hood River and of stealing cigarettes, candv, mone and other articles at Death Valley. ' Walla Walla Choir Plans Milo Concert The Walla Walla College Choir, under the direction of Melvin W. Davis, associate professor of mu sio at WWC, will present a concert at Milo Academy Saturday at 8 p.m. Prof. Davis holds a master of music degree from the Chicago Musical College and a bachelor of arts degree from College of Pa cific. The group will be heard In both secular and sacred numbers. Solo ists appearing will be Jorg Basaez, Chilean dramatic tenor, and Linda Lorren, pianist, who will perform Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1.
