Permit To Build Columbia Bridge At Astoria Given . SALEM (AP) The states of Washington and Oregon have been granted a permit by the Army Engineers to build a bridge across the Columbia River, Ore gon Highway Engineer W. C. Wil liams said here. "That doesn't mean a bridge is going to be built." he said. "It will have to ba finanaced first." Both legislatures must first de cide if they can afford the spsn, which Williams estimated will cost about 20 million dollars. The permit approval, Williams said, marks only one preliminary step. He said a j.unt committee of eight bankers will release find ings on the economic feasibility of the bridga in about a month. Preliminary plans call for a 4- mile span from Astoria, Ore. to 1 0f Chewelah on Thursday morn- was never lost at all, and bit wife. Family Argument Told Mrs. Handwerk told reporters' after hi arrest that they had argued but that she didn't think I it was serious. She had also joined the search for him in the canyon. Jones said Saturday Handwerk was charged with delaying and ob structing an officer by failing to advise officers of hit whereabouts at a time when he knew they were searching for him.
