In tha' game the Staters broke the 25-gnmc winning streak of the University of Southern California by holding the Trojans to a score less tie. The reunion will be held Sept. 27 in conjunction with the 1958 OSC intersccti'inal game against Kan sas in Multnomah Stadium. Grelle Beats U. S. Mile Record NEW YORK (AP) A Univer- sity of Oregon runner bettered the American record for the three quarter mile in a tune-up race for competition in Russia. Jim Grelle turned in a 2:57.7 time in a practice race here Saturday. Officials said, though, the time would not be regarded as a record because it was clocked in a handi cap rac;. The record is 2:58.2, held by Wes Santee. Grelle's performance was one of the highlights of the last prac tice in this country of an all-star track and field team which will compete shortly in Russia. Lumberjills Drop Tilt To Eugene Girls' Club The Roseburg Lumberjills lost to the Eugene girls Softball team over the weekend by an 8-5 count. The 'Jills were limited to just three hits but added to the run to tal with five Eugene errors. Eu gene took a 3-1 in the bottom of the first. The 'Jills came back to take the lead in the fourth at 4-3. However, just one more run was tallied in the game by the Rose- nurg team, that one in the sixth, but there the 'Jills scoring ended. The North team collected nine hits for a 10-6 win. The winning club also received a no-hit no-run effort from Church of God hurler, Wayne Hutchins, during his three - inning stint. Hutchins came on in the fourth and just nine men faced him and all nine batters popped up for the outs. Mrs. Cain said the ceremony was performed Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Duncan in suburban Chevy Chase, Md., with "only a handful of people present." Cain is a former mayor of Ta coma.
