North Is Victor
In Church Tilt
The North defeated the South it
the First Annual YMCA Church
League All-Star Softball game at
Veterans Field Saturday.
The North team collected nine
hits for a 10-6 win.
The winning club also received a
no-hit no-run effort from Church
of God hurler, Wayne Hutchins,
during his three - inning stint.
Hutchins came on in the fourth and
just nine men faced him and all
nine batters popped up for the outs.
For the South team, just four hits
helped the run production, but an
even greater help were the nine er
rors committed by the North club.
The leading hitters in the game
were Larry Miller of the Church of
God team with 3-4 and James Dew
of Winston Christian with 2-4.
On Saturday, Aug. 2. the North
All-Stars will play an all-star team
from the YMCA Twilight League.
