DONALD EUGENE BORDEN, above,, was Erdeen Kathryn Piper before her marriage June 14 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Portland. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Piper of Roseburg. St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Portland was the scene Saturday, June 14, of the 4:30 p.m. double ring ceremony uniting in marriage Erdeen Kathryn Piper and Donald Eugene Borden. The Rev. Robert Lessing performed the nuptial ser vice before 100 friends and rela tives. Both the bride and bride groom live in Portland. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Piper, Roseburg, and bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Angele of Las Vegas, Nev. The altar was decorated with candles and baskets of white chrys anthemums, blue delphinium and white gladioli. Mrs. Richard Muhle of Portland sang "O Perfect Love" and "Ave Maria." The bride, on the arm of her father, was lovely in a gown of white lare with an ankle - length skirt with scalloped edging. Her illusion fingertip veil fell from a headdress of lace and pearls. Her bridal bouquet was of gardenias and stephanotis. Mrs. Dale Blanck of Roseburg was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride's sister. Miss Don na Piper of Roseburg; and Mrs. Dexter Garey of Corvallis. They wore powder blue sheath dresses - r ., x Ca- At AMID A LOVELY SETTING of lilies, roses, snapdragons ond other spring flowers flanked by tall candleholders holding white tapers. Miss Bernice Biss became the bride of John Louis Weaver of Myrtle Creek Saturday afternoon, June 7, at the Tri-City Conservative Baptist Church. The vows were pledged in an impressive double ring ceremony read by the Rev. John Fenderson at 3 p.m. A reception followed in the church parlors. Lena Poole of Roseburg sang "0, Promise Me," her closing selec tion was "I Love You Truly." She was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. John Fenderson. who also played the wedding music and in cidental selections. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George R. Biss of Tri-City, was attired in a gown of tradi tional white bridal satin with floor length train, long sleeves and sweetheart neckline. Her fingertip veil of lace and net cascaded about her shoulders, caught in her hlond hair bv a tiny white floral tiara. The bridal bouquet was of red rosebuds. Preceded by her attendants, the radian', bride entered on the arm of her father, who gave her in marriaoe. She was met at the al tar bv Hie bridegroom, attended by Joe Fowler of Myrtle Creek as his best man. The bride's attendants, wore matching gowns of pastel taf feta with full skirts, scoop neck lines and wide sashes. They wore flowers in their hair and carried matching nosegays. The flower girls, carrying baskets of petals, were also gowned in taffeta dress es with puff sleeves and net ovcr ikirts. Miss Sandra Fairfield of Days Creek, attired in blue, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jewel Warrington of Klamath Kails, cous in of the bride, wearing yellow; anolher cousin, Dorothy Mnrfeld of Grants Pass, in green; Willa mae M.iss, cousin of the bride groom. Myrtle Creek, in pink, and Joan Gervais of Riddle, in laven der. Flower girls were Sheila Moss in yellow, Kathy Harris in pink nd Jean Gervais in blue. Ushers wera the bride's three brothers. John, George and James Biss; and , - , . I v. and carried crescent shaped bou quets of white chrysanthemums and blue delphinium. Richard Carmody of Eugene was best man and ushers were John Hensel and Larry Barchy, both of Portland. The bride's mother wore a light blue taffeta sheath with chiflon back panel and white accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a beige sheath dress with lace insets, lace gloves and beige accessories. A reception was given in the church parish hall following the ceremony. Mrs. Ella Getting of Portland served the cake; coffee and punch were served by Mrs. W. W. Spires and Mrs. Harry Clemmons, both of Roseburg. Miss Janet Butler had charge of the guest book and Mrs. Sara McKee of Portland took care of the gifts. For her honeymoon trip to coast al points, the new Mrs. Borden wore a light blue sheath dress with white lace chemise jacket and white accessories. The newly weds are now at home at 1643 SW 13th St., Portland. The bride was graduated from Roseburg High School and is em ployed by the Crown Zellerbach Corp., in Portland. The bridegroom is employed in Portland by Inter state Tractor and Equipment. John Gervais. The mother of. the bride wore an afternoon dress of blue and white floral dacron jersey with matching jacket and white accessories. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Myrtle Wengcr of San Diego, Calif., wore a sheer pastel blue afternoon dress with white accessories. The three-tiered wedding cake, topped by the bride and bride groom figurine which has graced the cakes of other members of the bride's family, was served with punch and coffee at the reception. Mrs. Edgar Barnes of Fortuna, Calif.. Mrs. Robert Pyle of Klam ath Falls and Mrs. Pressley Pvle of Grants .Pass, all aunts of the bride, presided at the refreshment 1 table. Sirs, hmmitt Belcher of Til- ler, who had been the 4-H leader of homemaking clubs in which the I bride participated during her ele mentary school days, served the wedding cake. Mrs. Eleanor Gcr gais of Riddle kept the guest regis ter and Mrs. Milton Hammersly ot Tiller took care of the gift table. The bride was graduated from Myrtle Creek High School with the class of 1958, having transferred last fall from Days' Creek. Mr. Weaver served overseas with the U. S. Army and following his re turn to civilian life has been em ploved at Pacific Plywood at DU lard. For her goine-away costume, the bride wore a white suit with match ing accessories. Her corsage was a tiny arrangement of roses lift ed from the center of her bridal bouquet. Mrs. George Sosic of Rid dle made the lovely floral ar rangements. After a wedding trip the newly weds will return to make their home at Tn-City. ENGAGEMENT TOLD Mr. and Harvey W. Duke, Suther lin, announce the engagement of their daughter, Ouida Lou ise, to David Crippen, son of Lorna C. Crippen of Suther lin and David A. Crippen of Springfield, Ore. The bride elect will be a senior at Suth erlin High School and her fiance is employed by Weyer haeuser Timber Co. The bride-elect attended Roseburg High School and is presently attending beauty college in Eugene. Her fiance was grad uated from Roseburg High School and is now employed by the Ford Lumber Co. The wedding will take place July 12 at the Powell home in Gar den Valley. BETROTHAL ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Frank Heathe of Spokane, Wash., announce the engagement of their daughter, Noncy, to Ken neth Siprelle, son of Mrs. Frank Webster of Roseburg. Both Nancy and Kenneth were graduated Sunday from University ot Oregon. Ken also received his commission os a second lieutenant and will report at Fort Knox, Ky., for duty Oct. 2. Blair of Sheridan, at A wedding of much interest took place Saturday evening at 7 o'clock at the First Christian Church, when Miss Diane Horn and Eugene Blair, both teachers in the Glide Public Schools, were unit ed in marriage by the Rev. New ell Morgan in the presence of sev eral hundred guests. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Horn of Springfield, Ore. and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan 0. Blair of Sheridan. Ore. White gladioli and nastel-cnlnroH blue carnations formed the bou quets at the altar, which flanked the candlelabra holding tall white tapers. White bows centered by net and hly-of-the-valley flowers marked the pews. Mrs. S. Clarence Trued, organ ist, accompanied Kirk Wirick, who sang, "Because" and "The Wed ding Prayer," and during the cere mony, sang, "The Lord's Prayer." AND MRS. ELWIN RAY JONES pose for their wed ding picture following their marriage Friday, June 13, at 6 p.m. ot the Sutherlin home of the bride's brother, the Rev. Dovid Leon Arrant, who purformed the single ring ceremony before family members. The bride is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel L. Arrant of Sutherlin. The bridegroom is from Central Point. He wos attended by Lonnie Arrant. The bride wore a white street-length dress with flowered bodice and carried a bouquet of red and white roses. Following the ceremony, the bridegroom re turned to his base at Son Francisco where he is stationed with the U. S. Navy. The bride will be making her home temporarily with her parents. lerina length lace gown over taf feta designed with a scalloped ap ron effect at the front. The long sleeves caine to a point at the wrists. She carried a white orchid surrounded by white stephanotis and a shower of white satin rib bons on a white Bible. Miss Donna Horn, Eugene, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Mrs. John (Doris) Knutson, Noti, Ore., sister of the bride; Mrs. Fred (Joreel Jensen, Florence, Ore., and Mrs. Frank (Ardice) Til ly, Eugene, were bridesmaids. They wore ballerina-lengMi gowns of while nylon dotted Swiss over blue taffeta with cummerbunds of blue. They carried nosegays of blue and white carnations. The maid of honor's gown was in a darker shade of blue cummerbund and blue taffeta under the white nylon dotted Swiss. The flower girl, Dorene Patterson, of Spring field, wore a white frock matching the maid of honor's, and carried a basket of blue and white carna tions. Green and yellow carried out the room bouquets of chrysanthemums, while the bride's table was center ed with a tiered wedding cake decorated in pale yellow and green. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Horn chose a brown tailored dress with while accessories and Mrs. Blair wore a navy blue dress with white accessories. Mn. Ialo Stephens of Roseburg was in charge of the guest book and Audrey Dodson of Eugene and Mrs. John Peterson of Springfield bad charge of the gifts. Mrs. Vern Cook of Notl served the bride's cake and Mrs. Raleigh Cook of Noti served the punch. Mrs. Karl Gardner of Venela, Ore., poured the coffee. The hririe attended Oreffon Col lege of Education at Monmouth and Northwest Christian College in Eugene in 1955. She was graduat ed from University of Oregon in 1957. She teaches English and speech in Glide High School. Mr. Blair was graduated from Oregon College of Education in 1954 and is fifth grade teacher and vice principal at Glide Elementary school. attended the Roseburg schools and the latter is employed by Douglas County as a painter. OLENDALE BETHEL GIVES SHOWER AT MEETING Glendnle Bethel of Job's Daugh ters held a pink and blue shower for Mrs. Marilyn Dickens after the group's last meeting Monday. Members played games and la ter presented gifts to the honorce. Several of the gifts were presented in a large box with the presents attached to strings.
