Baylor's average skidded to 33.9 on 677 points in 20 games as Seattle edged Montana State 78 77. Cincinnati's Oscar Robertson, idle Thursday night, trails by on ly three-tenths ot a point. Leo Byrd of Marshall also saw his average drop to an even 26 points as he scored a mere 15 points as Murray Slate defeated the West Virginia Club 98-92. Another chapter Is added Friday to the brilliant racing career if Eddie Arcaro. He has become a memlr of the exclusive "4.U00 club" The third man in the history of horse racing to ride 4.000 or more win ners. The fabled 4.000. which had eluded the 42-year-old stakes king of American racing since the third race at Santa Anita Park last Tuesday, came in the eighth and final race Thursday. It was aboard a 5-year-old brown gelding named Ban. no more nor less distinguished than the first horse Eddie rode to victory in a long distance afternoon at Ti juana's famed Caliente track in Mexico. Riding Said Dangerous That one's name was Easle Bird and he started Arcaro on the road to true greatness in one of the most gruelling, dangerous and exciting tests of an athlete in sports. Arcaro received a fine ovation from the 21.500 fans on hand Thursday. But, for a man with some 27 years of riding behind him, Eddie was the least excited. "Actually, it was just another day of racing for me but I'm glad to have reached the 4.000 mark and to get it over with," he said.
