Yoncalla Croup Reviews Books Members of the Yoncalla Wom en Study Club held a potluck luncheon and meeting Thursday afternoon at the city hall. Following the lunch a business meeting was held. Mrs. Dan Rus sell offered to take the place of Mrs. Marjone Boucock as devo tion chairman for the remainder of the year. Mrs. Russell gave a report on defense. The club voted to send a potted plant to Mr. and Mrs. Loud Pinkston honoring their SOlh wedding anniversary. Honor ing Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Richards, the club voted to purchase a re production of some art to be hung in the library, as a memorial. Several of the clubs in town have discussed donating towards a scholarship for some Yoncalla High School student. The matter was tabled until more could be learned about it. Mrs. Jim Bush of Drain was guest. During the study period Mrt. Cabaness reviewed several new books: "To Live Again" by Kath ryn Marshall, author of "The Man Called Peter"; "A Shadow across the Campus." by Helen Sattley, and "Neither Black or White" by Hatoies Stokley. The Lindsells formerly made their home in Roseburg prior to moving to California. Their elder daugh ter. Mary, is spending the school year attending school in England. Mr and Mrs. K. L. Wernsing and son, Jimmy, of Portland came to Roseburg last Friday and the latter two remained here over the weekend visiting Mrs. Wernsing s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Al bright, while Mr. Wernsing went to Eugene to enjoy the Dad s weekend festivities at the Univer sity of Oregon as the guest of their son, Jerry. Mr. and Mrs. Don Geddet and son, Paul, were among those re turning from the three-day assem bly of Jehovah's Witnesses which was held in Eugene Friday through Sunday. They were among 1,357 who heard W. D. Couch, dis trict minister from Brooklyn, N.Y. headquarters, give the Bible lec ture, "Facing the Future Without Fear." Mr. and Mrs. Ward Smith and daughter, Cindy, of Los Angeles, have arrived in Roseburg to re main over for the wedding Satur day of the Smiths' daughter, Mist Leone Kelly, and Jerry Roberts. While here they will also visit their son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Cook. The Smiths are former residents of this city. Mr. and Mrs. John Horn and children have returned home fol lowing a trip to Feather Falls, Calif., where they went to take Mrs. Horn's mother. Mrs. J. Wal ter Davis, back to her home after visiting here. The Horns met his grandmother. Mrs. Arthur Jeager. in Redding and brought her back to Roseburg with them. The latter had been visiting relatives and friends in California. Fred Kummert, whose home is in Petersburg. Alaska, and who has just completed his Navy boot training in San Diego. left here Wednesday for Washington to vis it prior to going to Texas for furth er training. While in Roseburg he visited his uncle and aunt. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kummert, and familv. Steve Kummert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kummert of this citv. has accepted employment at Mark's auper market. Mrs. Arthur Jeager has returned to her home here following a three month stay in California. She visited her daughter, Mrs. Mar garet Montague, and her sister, Mrs. Anne Murphy, in San Jose, and with Mr. and Mrs. Chester Magnuson in San Mateo. She also, made trips to Cupertino and Hay ward.
