Bow- Bridge Lessons To Be Given Wednesday Eleven, tables were in play for tha first Gorea point count system lesson conducted by Mrs. L. E. MrClintock under auspicea of the Elks Bridge Clubs Wednesday night at the Elks Temple. These bridge lessons are open to all persona interested in learn ing the Goren system. Both men and women bridge players are welcome to join the class, which meets every Wednesday st 7:4S p m. st the Elks Club. Zehrung of Myrtle Creek celebrated their gold en wedding anniversary Sunday, April 7, at an open-house reception from 1 until 4 p.m. at their home 00 North Myrtle Road. The party was planned and given by their children. Harlan, Floyd, Roy and Van Zehrung and Mrs. Larry W. Kendall, and their fam ilies. The corsage and boutonniere of yellow roses were presented to Mr. and Mrs. Zehrung by their son, Harlan and family. The guest book waa presented by Frank, the couple's eldest son and family. Ramona Evers was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. Dean Brown, wife of Mrs. Zehrung's cousin, pre sided at, the gift table. Mra. Lois Kendall was in charge of the table decorations. Mrs. Har lan Zehrung poured the coffee and Mrs. Floyd Zehrung served the punch. Mrs. Roy Zehrung cut the beautiful tiered wedding cake wnicn sne Daked and decorated.! Assisting with the reception were Mrs. Earl Badger and Mrs. James' Ogborn. E. W. Powell pronounced the benediction and read a special tribute written to his parents by Carl Zehrung, who is a missionary in Kenai, Alaska. Mr. Zehrung was born at Adrian, Kan., in 1883 and Mrs. Zehrung was born at Trinidad, Colo., in 1882. The couple married at the home of Mrs. Zehrung's sister, Mrs. C. V. Leigh in Lawrence, Kan., April 10, 1907. In 1914 they moved to Pendleton, Ore., where they re sided until the fall of 1921, at which time they established their resi dence near Myrtle Creek. The couple has one daughter, Lois Ken dall of Yakima, Wash., and six sons, Frank of Richmond, Calif.; Harlan of Edmonds. Wash.; Carl of Kenai, Alaska: Roy of Alder- wood Manor. Wash.; and Van of Halfway, Oregon. There are four granddaughters and seventeen grandsons. Unable to be present were Frank and family who called them Sun day afternoon; Carl and family who telephoned from Kenai, Alas ka Saturday evening: atyi their son-in-law. Larry Kendall, who called them Saturday evening. About 150 friends and relatives, both local and out-of town,' called during the course of the afternoon and aigned the guest book. Many cards and telephone calls were re ceived from those unable to be present. j Mrs. Roy Bellows Is I Honored On Birthday Mrs. Charles W. Wharton. Mrs. A. E. Kent and Miss Gertrude Rast surprised Mrs. Roy Bellows on her birthday Saturday by call ing at her home with a delightful dinner. The beautiful birthday cake was baked by Miss Rast. Contract bridge was enjoyed fol lowing the dinner hour. ENJOYABLE PARTY GIVEN ON BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY Eighteen friends and classmates' of Dicky Brinkley helped him cele-1 brate his ninth birthday Friday ' afternoon at the home of his par ents. Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Brinkley of Canyonvilh. After the guests played outdoor games, Easter and birthday cakes and other refreshments were served by Mrs. Brinkley after which the honoree opened his gifts. MCKAYS ENTERTAIN AT GARDEN VALLEY HOME Mr. snd Mrs. Clifford McKay of Garden Valley were host and hostess at two dinner parlies over the weekend. Saturdav evening guests were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bailey and Mr. and Mrs. Harding Knapp. Sunday noon Mr. and Mrs. Louis Berney joined the McKays. During the afternoon the McKays took their guests for a drive and visited with Mrs. D. P. McKay. ENGAGED Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Snow announce the engagement of their daugh ter Marjorie Jean Weatherly, to Victor F. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Smith of Portland. Miss Weathery was graduated from Elkton High School in 1956 ond is attend ing University of Oregon. Mr. Smith is a sophomore at Uni versity of Oregon Dental School in Portland. No date has been set for the wedding. W. M. Campbell Is Honored On Birthday Mrs. W. M. Campbell entertain ed at a lovely dinner party Sunday at her home to honor Mr. Campbell on his birthday. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. Camp bell. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Young and grandson, Jed Young, and Misa Gladys H. atrong. camellias formed the attractive decorations for the occasion. Following the dinner the group attended the Bishop Player's per formance at the First Presbyter ian Church. Bridge Club Meets Wednesday Evening Mrs. J. P. ilotschenbacher enter tained her bridge club Wednesday evenng at a delightful 7 o'clock supper. Camellias and flowering crab formed the lovely decora tions. Covers were placed for Sirs. Leonard W. High scores were, won in the bridge play by Mrs. Motschenba cher and Mrs. Richmond with Mrs. Long winning the traveling priu. Mrs. Johnson Presents Program Wednesday Sirs. H. A. Johnson gave a most interesting program on the life of Thomas Jefferson at the April 10 meeting of Xi Tau Chapter Beta Sigma Phi, held at the home of Mrs. C. P. Yundt Jr. President. Mrs. Bert Griffin, conducted the business meeting at which time the coming rummage sale.
