Mr. Coe is operating the bowling alley here and will be a co-partner in the new bowling alley being built. Mrs. Coe is a registered nurse. Goes To Portland Mrs. D. B. Kesner left Monday for Seattle to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Carter, and their daughter, Diane. Days Creek Fall Banquet Held The Days Creek High School chapter of the National Honor So ciety initiated six new probation ary members at the fall award banquet, held at the school Nov. 16. Sandra Fairfield, Florette Ma Gee. Frances Stone. Grady Gaul- ke, Pearl Kapa-sinski and Jarard Richardson received tne pins ot membership. The induction ceremony was lead bv the president, Arline Schaefer, assisted by the other members of the organization, Ca rol McNeil, Sharon Clark, Judy Connor and Lavon Bennct. It is necessary for members of this organization to maintain a 3.5 grade point average. Honors were also accorded, in the form of pins, to the present student body officers. Student body president Lavon Bennett, secre tary, Arline Schaefer, treasurer, Judy Murphy, and class presi dents, Warren Snyder, George Wil liams, Jarard Richardson, Curtis Weakly, and newspaper editor, Judy Connor, were led through the induction by the sargeant-at-arms, Red McKcnzie. The meeting was previously scheduled to be held at the Smith home, but was held at the Kinnan residence, due to the illness of Mrs. Smith. Chairman Mary Smith sent her resignation as she is moving to California in the near future. Iva Jcppesen vice chairman, also re signed and is also moving to Cal ifornia. Lillian Cummmgs was elected Chairman, with Edith Booth as vice chairman. Mrs. Cummings was asked to contact the president of the Camas Valley PTA in re gards to helping with the Christ mas program. Mrs. Howard Milton gave a re port on the "Country Store" booth held in conjunction with the Cam as Valley school carnival. Mrs. Carl Dahl gave the group a re port on the Farm Bureau county meeting which was held in Rose burg. There will be no meeting in De cember and the time and place for the January meeting will be deci ded at the regular business meet ing of the Farm Bureau, to be held Dec. 7 at the Camas Valley Veterans Halt. After the meeting the hostess was presented with a miscellan eous shower by the ladies. Camas Valley HEU Sets Christmas Part The Camas Valley Home Ex tension Unit met last week at the home of Mrs. Jack Parrott. The program for the meeting, "Select ing Pictures for the Home," was conducted by Miss Helen Chandler, with Miss Carol von Krosigk, as tier assistant. After the luncheon, served by Mrs. Arthur Brown, Mrs. Ernest Booth, Mrs. rrank Kinnan and Mrs. Al Barnhart, the business meeting was conducted by the chairman, Mrs. Dave Thrush. I Tne governor s isenmee neuei j Committee is attempting to finl I sponsors for the Hungarians. 196 State Hospital To Be Built For 3,000 Patients SALEM im The new state hos pital to be constructed at Wilson ville ultimately will contain 3,000 patients, the Oregon Board of Con trol predicted Tuesday. The hospital now is being plan ned for 1,500 beds at a cost of more than IS million dollars, but the buildings will be located so that its size could be doubled. Rollin Boles. Portland architect, told the board he would complete preliminary plans for the first 460-bed unit by Jan. L This unit will cost about seven millions. The 1959 Legislature will be asked to provide funds to complete the 1,500-bed hospital. The first unit of 460 beds will be started next summer. It will contain an administration building, outpatient clinic, receiv ing unit of 70 beds, intensive treat ment, unit for 100 patients, con valescent section for 100 patients, medical unit of 50 beds, surgical unit of 50 beds, chronic convales cent unit wilh 90 beds, dietary facilities and heating plant. When this is completed, there will be 600 beds added for chronic and convalescent patients, and 480 beds for aged patients. Court1 Throws Out Suit Of Alienating Affections SALEM Itfl The Oregon Su preme Court threw out of court Tuesday a $10,000 verdict that a Portland woman had been award ed against her mother-in-law for alienation of affections. The woman, Agnes Ann Ander son, had charged that she lost her husband's affections because of actions by his mother. The couple later was divorced. The high court, in its decision by Justice William C. Perry, said that when a parent is being sued for alienation of affections, it must be proved that the parent acted wilfully or maliciously. Such was not proved, the court said. The court also said there was no proof that the mother-in-law. Oveda Sturm, actually caused the loss of affections of her son for Mrs. Anderson. The decision reversed Circuit Judge James R. Bain of Portland. Benton Juniors Visit Veterans Hospital Sixteen girls from the Benton County American Junior Red Cross were at the Veterans Ad ministration Hospital Tuesday for a monthly birthday party.
