Mrs. Don Naden will have charge of presenting the puppet show, "Ed and Med." Mrs. Arthur McMullen will present the last of a series of the study of Ephesians. All wom en of the church and their chil dren are invited to attend. Sm Parade Mrs. Jack Clark and son, John: Bruce Stubblcfield and the former's aunt, Miss Elea nor Alexander of Orlando, IMa., went to Portland Friday. They at tended the Rose Parade Saturday and returned to Roseburg late bat- urday night. While there, John Clark and Bruce Stubblofield were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe McMahill and Mrs. Clark and Miss Alexander stayed overnight at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rice. Local Community News Briefs Stop Over Here Captain and Mrs. Frederick Kinsel and daugh ters. Sherry and Sharma. stopped over in Roseburg Monday to visit the former s cousin, Miss Helen Casey, and his great-aunt, Miss Rosa B. Parrott. and other rel atives and friends enroule from Anchorage, Alaska, to the air base at Shreveport, La., where Captain Kinsel has been transferred. Cap tain Kinsel is a former resident of Roseburg. To Los Angeles Miss Carolyn Cornilsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Cornilsen of Happy Val ley, left Tuesday for Los Angeles to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sichting and their daugh ter, Donna Rae. She will attend the graduation ceremonies of the latter from Southgate High School. Miss Sichting will then return here with Miss Cornilsen to visit for an indefinite time. Buy Business Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rogndahl of Portland have bought Roen's Office Equipment. The former has taken over the business here and Mrs. Rogndahl arrived in Roseburg Monday to help out for a few days before re turning to Portland. Mrs. Rogn dahl and daughter, Sylvia Jean. 12. will be coming down the last part of July to establish their home here. Vacationing According to word received nere lormer residents, Mr. and Mrs. George Stocking, now of Oakland, Calif., and the latter s son, Wilmer Clark, and his lamuy are vacationing in Yosem lte National Park. Mr. Clark, who formerly made his home here, has been in the Air Force for 14 year and is to move to Mountain Home, laano, June zi, wncre ne will be stationed at the Air Base. Michael. of this city left today by plane for Europe on a six weeks va cation trip. They will arrive in Rome, Italy, Thursday. They plan to tour Italy, Denmark and France, before going to England and Ireland. Now Grandson Word has been received here by Mrs. M. L. W. Smith, 1517 NW Eden, that her son and daughter-in-law, Lieut, and Mrs. Russell Kirbey, have become parents ot a son, Kusseil Tyler. The baby, weighing 7 pounds 1114 ounces, was born June 10 at the naval hospital in San Diego. This is Mrs. Smith's first grandchild. Home For Summer Mrs. Charles DcGuire made a trip to CorvalUs recently to bring back her daughter, Nancy McFarland, to spend the summer months here. Miss McFarland was recently pledged, to Pi Beta Phi at OSC, where she is majoring in secretar ial science. She will be employed for the summer by Douglas Elec tric Cooperative Inc. Dick Freese narrowly escaped serious injury when he upset his car on the curve off the Brown's Ex-President1 Truman To Address Convention CHICAGO Wl Former Presi dent Truman will address the Democratic national convention after the party's presidential nom inee has been chosen. Paul Butler, the Democratic na- tional chairman, announced that Tuesday and said that a place on the program was "in accordance with his (Truman's) own wishes." Butler said Truman didn't say why he wnted to take the platform after the nomination had been made. But Truman has said he is a neutral so far as a preference among the contenders for the nom ination are concerned. The convention will open August 13 in Chicago. I Break In Water Supply Results In Law Suit BAKER UI A break in the city's reserve water supply reser voir at Goodrich Creek last month has brought a $6,000 damage suit against the city. Richard C. Marshall, a farmer whose land was flooded, brought the suit, alleging failure of the city to inspect and repair the dam. The suit is expected to set the pattern for a number of other farmers.
