The president, Mrs. Eugene Pasch, introduced Jane Gates who talked on the possibility o- form ing 4-M clubs in the area. Ben Smith spoke briefly on the coming budget vote, and on the need for an assistant Scoutmaster and two committeemen. He also announced that the cub scout blue and gold dinner had been postpon ed with a tentative date set for March 2. Bagpipes Open Scottish Recital The skirl of bagpipes played by Scotty Sinclair, opened the recit als of music pupils of Cynthia Ma gill recently. Sinclair appeared in the traditional kilts of Scotland and played the bagpipes which his father had played as a member of the Scottish Guards Band. When he leaves he will go to Los Angeles, Calif., to school. He enlisted in the Navy in November. Surherlin Lidy Lioni Hav Recent Session The Lady Lions of Sutherlin met this week at the home of Mrs. Vera Holm on Cherry Lane for a 7 p.m. potluck dinner. The tables were decorated in the Valentine motif and 15 members enjoyed the evening. Hostesses were Margar et Thatcher and Vera Holm. Mrs. Soris Steinbach officiated in the place of the president, Lura Scallon, who was ill. A discussion was held on the spring board meet ing which will be held April 18 in Portland. It was voted to give $5 to the March of Dimes. After the meeting a social hour was enjoyed with games being played. Mrs. Alma Hina won first prize. 1. Sutherlin Grange Meets Wednesday By MRS. BRITTAIN SLACK Sutherlin Grange members met Wednesday for a regular business meeting. Mrs. Evelyn Smith was given the Grange obligation of the fourth degree and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Liesinger received the first and second degrees. The committee on Umpqua Im provement Assn., gave a report on their last meeting. The home eco nomics chairman gave a report and announced the next meeting will be held on March 6 at the grange hall, with Maljel Pearce and Hazel Woodrow as hostesses. Master Eunice Haslam spoke briefly on the death benefit plan for members. Ralph Pearce pre sented some interesting points on the subject. The committee for renting the hall submitted rental prices which were voted on, with nrices for members and nnn.mpm. bers. It was voted to repair the hand railing on tne front steps. Pomona Grange will meet in Sutherlin March 31. The . lecture hour directed by Henry Frotscher included group singing, accordian selection by Al Fonkin, reading by Evelyn Smith and a game. Refreshments were served by Mabel Pearce and Hazel Woodrow. The next meeting will be the usual social and 7 p.m. potluck supper on Wednesday evening.
