WELCOME HOME PARTY GIVEN AT FRIDAY HOME A welcome home party was giv en recently at the C. H. Friday home in honor of Hal Fretwell and Harlow Friday, home on leave from Fort Knox, Ky. A novel feature of the even in t Sat. Jan. 21, . 1956 The News-Review, Roseburg, Ore. 7 was the presentation of an espe cially constructed army tank to the boys by Jim Friday. Gaye Warren did a lap routine to "Dog face Soldier' on top of the tank. Other entertainment consisted of musical numbers on the violin and accordion by June and Bob Bo denner. The rest of the evening was de voted to stunts and dancing with refreshments served throughout on tables decorated with black and white check cloths, candle-dripped bottles serving as candle holders and miniature tanks flying small 1 lew MR. AND MRS. PERCY MYERS, above, celebrated their silver wedding anniversary Dec. 18 at tjie home of their daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Cene Arthur, at Winston. Mr. and Mrs. Myers were maried Dec. 19, 1930, and have lived in Roseburg thf "r entire life. The silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Myers of Green was celebrated Dec. 18 at an open-house affair given by their son and daughter-in-law. Air. and Mrs. Gene Arthur, at the Arthur home in Winston, Mr. and Mrs. Myers were married 25. years ago, Dec. 19, in Roseburg. Both are long-time Roseburg residents. For the occasion Mrs. Myers wore a becoming dress of aqua blue crepe with jeweled buttons and a corsage of bells and silver ribbon, made by Mrs. James Daugherty. The serving table, covered with an Irish linen cloth, was the at tractive setting for a large tiered wedding cake, decorated with bells and lilies of the valley. The cake was made and decorated by Mrs Arthur. Mrs. H. A. Doyle cut and I Mrs. Gordon Larson and Mrs. Jo seryed the cake, Mrs. Willis My-'sephine Parkhurst. Installation Ceremony Held Monday Evening Monday evening. Alpha Lodge 47, Knights of Pythias, and Rose burg Temple 23, Pythian Sisters, held installation ceremonies at the KP Hall for their 195G officers. In stalling officer was Mrs. Robert Cameron. She was assisted by Mrs. E. G. High and Mrs. E. Lauer. Officers installed were Mrs. Mar ion Patrick, past chief; Mrs. Charles Slabaugh, most excellent chief; Mrs. A. 0. Helvey, excel lent senior; Mrs. Wayne McCau ley, excellent junior; Mrs. Charles Martin, manager; Mrs. A. Maine, secretary; Mrs. Howard Kluver, treasurer; Mrs. G. Mack, protec tor; Mrs. Jim Beville, guard. Two retiring officers, Mrs. Patrick, who served a year as most excellent chief, and Mrs. John Schlinsog, who served the three-year term of treasurer, were awarded past chief pins, and were welcomed into the Past Chiefs Club by Mrs. High, its president. Gifts were presented by Mn. Patrick to all who served with her during the year. In apprecia MRS. The in formal portion of the evening in cluded speeches by the officers and a skit showing how officers should be elected. Refreshments in the dining room completed the eve ning. Gene Clark presented George Reynolds with a past noble grand collar. The program consisted 'of some excellent chorus numbers present ed by students under the direction of teacher, Robert Carter. The mix ed chorus also sang varied selec tions. The program was conducted with a solo, "Forgive," sung by the Rev. Wayne Waltman. accompan iea Dy Mrs. wauman.
