Newspaper Page Text1 Air Force Announces Plans WASHINGTON to The Air( Force has announced here it's ready for the first rocket powered flight by the X-2 research plane,, designed to penetrate the heat bar rier with speeds of roughtly 2,000 miles per hour or more. The X-2 is the first plane specif ically built to explore the point in i peed where many metals weaken j or break down due to tremendous air friction, The aluminum alloy normally used in aircraft has been replaced j by stainless steel and other ma-1 terials. F. Mc Laughlin attended the Bonebrake family reunion at Drain. There were about 45 members present at Drain Community hall. Families came from Vancouver, Goldendale, Wash., Portland, Roseburg, Eugene, Medford and Drain. There was also a familv from California and one from Phoenix, Ariz. After the reunion the McLaugh lins continued on to Eugene to vis it with Mr. and Mrs. Leu Bolte until Monday afternoon. Mrs. Bolte is McLaughlin's youngest sister.
