Munyon, Glendale, mashed his fingers in a car door recently. There was no fracture. Howard Edson, Glendale post master, attended a school of in etruction at Medford recently for 1I 1st and 2nd class postmasters of southern Oregon. The school dealt with general orders, 68, passed by the last Congress on re-classification of postal employ ees, designed to provide equal pay for equal work and responsibility. The law will go into effect Decem ber 3. Mrs. Charles Jones of Kenne wick, Wash., the former Mrs. Rita Mann, who at one time lived In Glendale, visited recently with her sister, Mrs. Marie Guticire, on her way south to San Jose where she will make her home. She was accompanied by her two daughters, Judith Ann and Linda Kay. Dislocates Shoulder Bobby Smith recently dislocated his right collar bone when a plank broke and struck him while he was loading cars at Dollar-Patter-eon mill in Glendale. Mrs. Laura June Jubber of Springfield is spending a week in Glendale visiting with members of her family while her husband, Bob juouer, attends a convention of the Oregon Stnte Game Commis sion in Corvallis. Oliver Dotson of Canyonville, business agent; James Cooper, shop steward; and Hob Fisher, president of Local 216 left Sun day returning Tuesday evening, after attending the API, Lumber and Sawmill Workers convention in Eugene as representatives ol the local union. Democrats Fund Raising Slated For Douglas Co. Although the 19.16 general elec tion was still months away, rum blings were already being heard. Mrs. Robert Y. Thornton of Sa lem, general chairman of a cam paign fund drive by the Democra tic women of Oregon, said Mrs Christina Micelli. chairman of the Democratic Central Committee in Douglas County, will appoint a committee to plan a fund-rising campaign in Douglas County. Mrs. Thornton said the terminal dale of the fund-rising program is Dec. 1. "We will raise money to be used for advertising and pub licity purposes in the 1966 cam paign." Mrs. Thornton explained. one saia tne uougias county com mittee will keep half of what it raises lo spend locally on behalf of candidates and issues. Ray Netr.el, and sons of Roseburg left Tuesday on a vacation trip going by way of Klamath Falls to Bend where they plan to do some fish ing, then continue north to tha Co lumbia Highway and on lo the coast. They will return home at the end of the week. Recovers Mrs. Glenn Dodge received a let ter recently from her daughter who is slaying with Mrs. Dodge's sister, Miss Georgia Gardner that Miss Gardner is recovering from eve surgery and will be home shortly. Mrs. Allbright and chil dren are visiting here from tan Francisco. Recent guests of the George Blomgrens were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Blomgren of Hollywood, and a niece of Blomgrens. Mrs. Jack Barnes and son, Jimmy, of Gardiner. The Blomgrens drove Mrs. Barnes home last weekend and spent a few days on the coast. J. W. Byron Evans advises residents of the Lemolo Falls area that the Lemolo Falls school closure is necessary on ac count of most of the Morrison- Knudson Construction Co. fam ilies, including the teacher of the Lemolo Falls School, are being moved to Tokelee Falls for the coming year. School facilities at loKciee rails will be available for all residents of the Lemolo Falls area, but it will be neces sary for parents desiring such school facilities to arrange among themselves for the sharing of transportation to meet the school bus near the Clearwater Camp. Go On Extended Trip Cecil Harris and his 15-vear-old daughter, Pally, returned recent ly after a month's motor trip to New York and back. They visited points of interest in North Caro lina, the old battlefield at Gettys burg, Pa., the Natural Bridge. W. Virginia, and stopped for a visit with Patty's grandmother, Mrs. Charles Smith, at Buffalo. N.Y. The return trip was made through Missouri, lexas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. She is a school teacher and mother of one child. (Wilson Studio) Glide School Board Accepts Petroleum Bid By MRS. ARTHUR SELBY At the monthly meeting of the Glide School Board this week, bids for petroleum products were open ed and studied. The contract for PS 300 fuel oil was awarded to Fuel Oil Service, Roseburg, at a delivered price of $3.47 per barrel. Other bidders were Tidewater As sociated Oil Co., $3.70 per barrel and Union Oil Co., $3.48 per barrel, reports Supt. Byron Evans. The light furnace oil contract was awarded to the General Pe troleum Co. at a delivered price of $.1359 per gallon,. Other bidders were Tidewater Oil at .142 per gal., and Roseburg Fuel Oil and Union Oil both bidding .149. Contracts cover Glide schools and Deer Creek Grade school. The school board decided to de fer acceptance on bids of gaso line for the school buses until the beginning of the calendar year. Bids for band equipment for Glide Schools were opened and the board accepted the low bid of $1, 732.32 submitted by Ott & Rick ets of Roseburg. The other bidder was Eugene Music Co. ' Applications for three new school bus drivers were studied, and the board authorized the hiring of John Livingston, Leo Dell, and Duane Obenchain, all of Glide. I Injured Boy Recuperates In Oakland With Parents By EDITH DUNN Jerry Brown who was hurt re cently in an auto accident near Reedsport is now at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ever ett Brown, and can have some vis itors. Visit At Brown Home Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marshall of Portland were weekend guests at the Everett Brown home. Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Brown are sif ters. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sifers fished at Diamond Lake recently. They reported good luck in fishing. Dr. and Mrs. Homer M. Noble spent the weekend with their sons in Port Orford. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon LaMotte left Friday for a visit with rela tives in Norwalk, Calif. They will bring back their children, Linda Elkton School Schedules Pre-School Examinations Physical examinations for Elk ton school first and ninth grade pupils are scheduled at the grade school Wednesday morning, Aug. 17, reports Mrs. Ariel Hubbard, correspondent. The examinations will also De given to athletes who plan to par ticipate in competitive sports. The examinations are paid tor by the school district. Any students not taking advantage of the clinic will he required to take the examina tions at their own expense. First grade pupils will be examin ed at 9 a.m.; freshmen should re port at 10; and athletes at 11. Birth certificates are required for pupils enrolling in the first grade. WI A Navy pilot in trouble apparently crashed his Banshee jet alongside U.S. 27 to day to avoid' hitting two trucks on the highway. The pilot, who was killed, was identified as Lt- (J.G.) Robert C.
