The official Central Daily News said: "ThePathet Lao invasion of Laos was engineered by Soviet Russia and Red China to create a tense situation in Asia before the big Four summit meeting at Geneva. "The Communists hope to force the West to agree to a discussion of Asian problems by the Big Four." The newspaper predicted that the Communists would "launch aggres sion also in Cambodia and Thai land" and added invasion of Laos is a calculated insult to the SEATO nations and a merciless test for them. "If these nations hit the aggres sors hard, Soviet Russia and Red China will retreat. If not, their aggression will spread." I0.0.F.
