Following a delicious pot luck dinner, visiting was enjoyed. Gifts of appreciation were present ed to the school teachers, Mrs Vir na Emery and Mrs. Charity Bak er, and the bus driver, Mrs. Bev. erly Christian, from the Riversdale Community Club. Allan Burkhart and Ted Bryant of Eugene visited here last week with the former's parents. They also enjoyed fishing. They visited Aster Column which is of historical inter est in Astoria. Ben Edwards of Wagontire is staying with and working for H. B. Kruse. Great Circle Air Route Application Shelved WASHINGTON I The Civil Aeronautics Board decided hers that it will shelve Pan Am erican World Airways' applica tion for authority to fly the "great circle" northern route to the Orient The CAB, In rejecting I petition by Northwest Orient Airlines, ruled that no action ii warranted at this time on the Pan American-great circle routs question. The CAB last February, acting on President Eisenhower's instruc tions, approved extension of North west'! seattie-roruana-Ancnorage-Tokyo routs for seven years.
