Identification Tag The Federal Civil Defense Ad- ministration has announced new simplified specif lea lions for civil ian identifieaton tags, accordng to local CD officials.. The announcement follows an earlier appeal for states and local governments to support an immed iate nationwide Civil Defense tag ging program to help strengthen defenses against possible atomic or H-bomb attack with the accom panying threat of radioactive fall out. Under the law, tagging is the responsibility of states and locali ties, which finance their own pro grams, according to Brig. Gen. J. T. Pierce, county director, and Col. GEORGE EDES Ann Lasswell and Nadine Phil lips spent Friday and Saturday in Salem, where they-entered a competitive examination together with 105 other students from Ore gon high schools for the Mary L. Collins scholarship in fields of lib eral arts and music. The students were contending for 10 scholar ships: five for boys and five for girls. Personal interviews and au ditions in music were given. They also heard an address by G. Her bert Smith and Senator Mark Hat field. The students made a tour of the campus and were guests at the Lausanne Hail Friday night.
