Mon, Mor. 21, 1955 WILBUR-WINCHESTER PTA PRESENT EQUIPMENT TO SCHOOL The Wilbur - Winchester PTA met Thursday evening at the Wil bur School at a "Parents Night" program. Mrs. Fred Broszio, pres ident, conducted the business meet ing. Mrs. Howard Brothers pre sented the merchandice, which the organization had purchased (or the individual schools. Jim Hennebcck and Ben Smith, speaking for the teaching staff, expressed their ap nreciation for the Kifts. These in- eluded track suits, two record : players and two radios for the WU- bur sohool: a nublic address syj. : tern, and a number of educational items for the classrooms at Win Chester. . A nnminatine committee was an '" pointed by the president. Members selected were Mrs. Eugene Pasoh, Mrs. M. D. McKay and Mrs. Doug Short. Announcements were as follows: the Wilbur - Winchester We-views, annual faculty program, will be presented May 6; the ApriJ PTA meeting will be "Childrens Night," . and will be held at the Winchester School. Ben Smith gave a short talk on the coming budget. Mr. Smith's room was awarded the room count. Mrs. M. D. McKay presented the program for the evening. Mrs. De lores Hink sang two vocal num bers, . accompanied by Pat Als paugh. A style show skit included the following cast: Mrs. Fred Broszio, Mrs. Howard Brothers, Mrs. Arne Langseth, Howard Brothers, Floyd Meade, Fred Broszio. Morris Lane. Bob norland. The mothers of Mrs. Parkhurst's Toom served refreshments. YONCALLA SOCIETY ELECTS NEW STAFF Mrs. Ralph Moll and Mrs. George Edes were hostesses to the missionary society of the WSCS of the Voncalla Methodist Church Thursday afternoon. Mm. iPerry Smith had charge of the de votions. Mrs. Tom Wallace, Mrs. Bob Campbell and Mrs. J. N. Sparks were appointed nomination committee for new officers. Plans were made to meet with the-Drain society Thursday. Subject for dis cussion was "World Federation of Methodist Women" with Mrs. Jean Lee in charge. The WSCS emblem was assem'"-d with the a!:stance of all the ?rs of the society. Mrs. Dare i rcry gave a very fine report on what is done with missionary money. Refreshments were served at the- close of. the meeting. SADDLE CLUB HAS POTLUCK MEETING . "Voncalla Saddle Club met at Halo Hall at a potluck supper and business session recently. Follow ing the delicious supper, Charlie Applegate, vice president, called the meeting to order. An invita tion from the Sutherlln Timberline Trail riders was extended to the club to bring their horses to Roseburg Fair grounds, Sunday, March 20, at 1 o'clock sharp. Registration ia at 12:45 pm. This is a gymkhana meeting of the clubs. HEALTH NURSE SPEAkS AT SCOTTS VALLEY PTA . ScotU Valley PTA held a regu lar meeting Friday with Mrs. Har. ry Mill, president, in charge The speaker for the evening was Mrs. Jean Wright, Douglas County health nurse, who gave a very interesting talk, and showed films on "Your child's safety, accidents in the home and prevention of ac cidents in the home." A good crowd was present. Coffee and cookies were served at the close of the meeting. ELKTON MOTHERS CLUB TO ORGANIZE SCOUTS The Elkton Mother's Club met Monday night at the horn of Lau ra Adamo, Plans were discussed for a meeting Thursday, March 24, at the grade sohool to organ ize a Girl Scout group. The Arene Club will sponsor this group. Mrs. Hazel Johnson from Reedsport will be the speaker for the eve ning. The next meeting of the Mother's Club will be April 11, at the Lee Bossen Home. Following the lunch eon, visiting was enjoyed while the ladies worked on aricles to be sent to the Veteran's Hospital in Rose- burg. Ralph Moll showed two films on education and choosing a career. Delicious refreshments were serv ed at the close of the meeting. The eighth grade won the room count. BUCKEROO CLUB ENTERTAINS GUESTS Boots and Sandles Square Dance Oluo ot cottage Grove were guests Saturday night, of the Buckeroo Square Dance Club at the Barn. Five callers wore pres ent, including Mr. and Mrs. How ard Bernard, leaders of the club. The St. Patrick's Day motif was carried out in the decorations. Central, Phone 298S CHURCH GROUP MEETS AT CANYONVILLE Officers of the Eugene district Woman's Society of Christian Ser vice of the Methodist Church met with the mebers of the Wesleyan Guild at the Canyonville Church Monday evening for the purpose of hWn that group organize a local WSCS. Mrs. J. N. Bestul of Grants Pass, Eugene district president, talked about, the history of the society and of the organization plan adapted to the needs of the smaller churches. Mrs. O. P. Taylor of Grants Pass, promotion chairman of the district, described both the for eign and home mission work of the organization. Mrs. Ritchie Huston served re freshments, while, the group stud ied the literature available to members of the WSCS. YONCALLA AUXILIARY PLANS LUNCHEON-MEET The regular meeting of the Am erican Legion Auxiliary met at Halo Hall Tuesday. Mrs. Rose Ken dall of Grants Pass gave a much appreciated talk on chrysanthe mum culture ana proportion. Twenty-one were present, includ ing several new members. Mrs. Ula Losey acted as hostess in the absence of Mrs. Angle Nensteil and Mrs. Laska Miller. to the Roseburg Veterans Hospital in February. Ten dollars was voted to be giv en to the Scotts Vallev Sohool for its new American Flag. On the 24th of March the Aux iliary will entertain at a lunch eon honoring the department pres ident, Marie Wilcox, and district president, Edith Moore.
