Pine TENMILE CLUB .TTr TO MAKE REPAIRS ' ' ON BUILDING The Tenmile Ladies Club met at the clubhouse Wednesday. Mrs. Vera Erbe. and Mrs. Nellie Henry were hostesses for the day. There were nineteen women present md one guest, Mrs. Mary Ayera of Grants Pass. , A poUuck lunch was enjoyed at noon. Mrs. Hazel Chamblen, pre sided over the business meeting. Plans were discussed for repair ing the clubhouse ceiling and the ladies plan to meet Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. to renail part of the ceiling, work on a quilt and paint the new builtins. Those, who could nail ceiling, were asked to bring their hammer. All members are urged to come. There is to be a potluck lunch at noon. Announce ment was made of the Mothers Club meeting to be held i at the clubhouse Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 12 noon. The next regular meeting of the club will be Oct. 6, at the clubhouse. Pastured at SAFEWAY CAMP FIRE GIRLS I START MEMBERSHIP DRIVE THIS MONTH Oyer 1000 Camp Fire girls in Roseburg, along wittl 250 adult vol unteers in the Camp Fire family, will embark on their annual ten week membership march this month, according to an announce met made today by Mrs. Mona Hult, council president. The slo gan of the campaign, which will extend through Nov. 30, is "Be Friendly Make FriendsJoin the Camp Fire Girls!" In announcing the drive to en list more girls and adult volun teers in the Camp Fire program, Mrs. Hult released a commenda tory message from Mayor Croft His message reads: "I strongly urge every civic-minded man and woman in Roseburg to take advan tage of the current invitation to join the Camp Fire circle. Camp Fire is a real family affair, where the influence of the home is ol paramount concern in the program enjoyed by the girls. Women make their most valuable contribution through their roles as group lead ers, guiding youngsters along the trail to happy living. Men, along with women, contribute to , the Camp Fire program by serving as group sponsors and by taking an active role. on committees, where their special skills can be used to full advantage. "Although there are many girls In our community who are enjoy ing the fun and friendship activi ties of Camp Fire, there are count less others who are eager to join groups," Mayor Croft continued in his statement. "These are the girls we want to reach but In or der to extend membership bene fits to them we must enroll more adult volunteers the backbone of any youth organization. I sin cerely hope that the hand of friend ship, being offered by Camp Fire girls and potential Damp Fire girls, will not be refused. Thev have our interest' but they need our actual help. You can help by volunteering as a leader, spon sor, or committee member. In line with their membership march. Camp Fire eirls in Rose burg will make a special effort o enlist tne suroort of more men and women volunteers by calling attention to the theme, "Make it a Family Affair!", which they nave adopted for the campaign. Camp Fire girls is a Central Douglas United Fund service. GLIDE PTA ENJOYS FILMS AT FIRST MEET Over 150 parents and teachers were present for the first PTA meeting of the school year al Glide Monday evening. New officers of the group in clude: Irene Halverson, president Ina Lee Densley, vice president Mary Ruth Thompson, secretary treasurer. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting with Mary Ruth Thompson and Joan Mehl acting as hostesses.
