Back From Portland Candy Collins has returned to her home in Laurelwood, following a weak in Portland visiting her cousins, the P. W. Van Den Bosch family. Her father, Charles S. Collins, at tended a meeting in Portland over the weekend and brought her back to Roseburg. CEORGE EDES Lois Parks has been selected as princess to represent Yoncalla at the North Douglas County Fair to be held at Drain, Aug- 19 to 21. Three girls competed for the hon or; Janice Applegate, Mary Lou Thompson and Mist Parks. Inducted Homer Waters left Tuesday for Roseburg, where he was inducted in the U.S. Army. Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Applegate pent the weekend visiting at the home of their son and daughter-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ap plegate, in Portland. While there they attended the football game between the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Rams. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Applegate will move into their new home thin week. Mrs. Mary, Lambdon and son, Bob, returned home this week aft er spending a month visiting rel atives in Oakland, Calif. Judy Marsh returned home with them for a two weeks' visit. Hockett's sister will teach school in the Yoncalla Grade School this year. Hockett's parents lived in Scotts Valley at one time, and were pioneers of Douglas County. Cahill is accused of making off with the money. Dist. Atty. Wil liam Hollen of Lincoln County con tends the signature of the district treasurer was forged on the re ceipt, j The treasurer, John Naylor, died last January, at about the time Cahill, secretary of the district, : was recalled. Naylor's widow testified Wednes- j day that she had never heard her husband mention that Cahill had turned the money over to him.
