W This fish ing community on the Columbia River 20 miles upriver from As toria, added to the contusion lues day by developing a coating of yellow dust. Astoria, at the river's mouth, had a powdering of shiny black pellet Saturday and they were back there again ineiay. But here, the dust was a dust rather than pellets. It was the color of sulfur and that led some to conjecture that it came from Longview or St. Helens paper mills farther upriver. But the oldest residents couldn't remember ever seeing such a thing before. Mrs. Andrew Marincovich said the dust apparently came down during the night and con tinued in the morning. It was thick enough to pile up a bit in corners and it gave a yellowish cast to the whole community.
