Frank Johnson was elect ed chairman of the Dorcas Circle of Faith Lutheran Church when members met for an organiza tional session Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Arlo Jacklin. Mrs. Ellis Fuller was elected secretary-treasurer; Mrs. C. H. Joel son will serve as benevolenra chairman; Mrs. John joelson as courtesy chairman; Mrs. Robert Rent, publicity, and Mrs. 0. W. Olsen and Mrs. Jacklin will have charge of programs. Devotions and prayer were led by the Rev. Elmer Peters. Dur ing the business meeting the mem. bers voted to be a sewing circle and to use dime cards for their missionary contributions: Following the meeting, Rev. Pe ters presented bulletins on the Advance For Christ movement. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess to Rev. Pe ters and Mrs. B. J. A write-up and picture of the new Kyrtle Creek chapter will be lent to the international office for publication in the "Torch," Beta Sigma Phi magazine. Mrs. Meredith Wilson had charge of the program and she introduced Mrs. Celia Day from the VA Hos pital who gave an interesting speech. OSC MOTHERS CLUB HAS DELIGHTFUL SOCIAL MEETING Mrs. Foster Butner entertained the Oregon State College Mothers Club Monday afternoon at the beautiful home of her daughter, Mrs. A. J. Ellison, 2135 Harvard, at which time Mrs. W. H. Carter was the guest speaker. Mrs. Carter told of the trip taken last fall by Mr. Carter and her self to Europe, where they toured numerous countries and were en tertained by their son-in-law and daughter. Col. and Mrs. Terrence Fitzgerald, and family, and their son, Tommy, who are stationed in Germany Mr. and Mrs. Car ter made the trip to Europe and back on the USS United States Plans were made for the club meeting March 8 at the home of Mrs 0. PNG CLUB HAS MEETING THURSDAY The regular January meeting of tne jvast Noble Grand's Club was held at the home of Mrs. J. E Dent with Mrs. Dent, Mrs. Ted cioom. Mrs. tiaipn Kusseli. Mrs Oliver Plumer, and Mrs. Harry Hatfield as hostesses. A salad- supper was served at seven-thirty at tables beautifully decorated with heather and other winter flow ers. Invited guests included Mrs Don Snyder, noble grand of Rose burg Rebekah Lodge; Mrs. H. 0. Jensen, junior past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge- Mrs. Carl Fleshman, secretary of the lodge; Miss Glenda Beach and Mrs. Gert rude Richman Routine business of reports of sickness, roll call and reports of visits was executed. Mrs. H. u. Jensen was admitted to member ship and initiated. Mrs. Vera South had resigned as vice president of the club and Mrs. Lynn tianna was elected bv aclamation. A small sum was voted to donate to the Polio Fund. Plans were made to sponsor a rummage sale on March 6 at the Emscon&l Parian Hail. A commit. tee to assist with this sale include Mrs. V. T. Jackson. JOAN PAGE BAKER, above, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hoover, Roseburg, was graduated from San Francisco Dent al School Friday, Feb. 5. She is spending the week with her parents in Roseburg, before accepting a position in Santa Cruz. Joan was graduated from Roseburg High School, in 1953. She made her home here for seven years. She was married Dec. 26 in Santa Cruz and her husband, AL3 Loren Baker, is in the Navy stationed aboard the USS On slow, now in Korean waters. He will receive his discharge next August. ST. PAULS LADIES AID PLAN WORTHY PROJECTS St. Paul's Ladies Aid met Thurs day evening at the home of Mrs. M. Rietmann. Devotions were led by the Rev. W. A. Sylwester and the business session was conduct ed by the president, Mrs. M. Reit- mann. new year boons were dis tributed and will be sent to all women of the congregation. The group decided to purchase The Life of Martin Luther" -for the public library. The executive board with Mrs. George Ewert as chairman, will purchase a new altar cloth for the church. A year's subscription to "The Christian Parent" will be sent as a gift to each new mother of the congrega tion during 1954. Mrs. George Ewert gave a re port for the visiting committee. One social meeting, during which the group will sew for a project, will be held quarterly. Members were asked to save Gold Medal coupons and bring them to the meetings. Mrs. E. Stratford presented project on the adoption of a Ko rean orphan. Concordia College uuua will be sent 530. CONTEST WINNERS FETED AT SORORITY MEETING An enjoyable meeting of Alpha Chi Chapter, Dpsilon Sigma Al pha, was held Thursday at the home of Rita Smith on East Pleas ant Street. Winning team members of a re cent chapter money raising proj ect were honored at a party given by the losing team. A benefit card party for mem bers, their husbands and invited guests will be held Saturday eve ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tyler Evans. Proceeds will go to the Crippled Children's Hospital in Eugene. A delicious steak dinner was served at one-thirty. Table entertainment and visiting I followed, Present were: Mrs. Ermel Briggs. Mrs. Grace Lutz, Mrs. Eleanor Jones. Mrs. Henry Schmoll. Mrs. Bruce Amesburv. a guest, and Mrs. R. W. Alspaugh, hostess, of Myrtle Creek. Attending from Roseburg were Mrs. A. C. Seely. Mrs. H. E. Mowry and Mrs. H. B. Carter Beta Gamma Chapter. Epsllon Sigma Alpha, held a valentine party Tuesday evening at tne home of Mrs. Don Rogan with Mrs. Gerrv Moore as co-hostess. The valentine motif was carried out in the decorations, Garnet were played with Mrs. Ray Lor- ance winning tne first prize. Eacn member decorated a hat In the valentine motif and the group vot ed Mrs. Del McKay's to be tne cleverest. A short business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Moore. Plans were maoe tor a rummage and cooked food sale to be held Feb. 27 at the Episcopal Parish House. Baby clothes, Mer- ry-go-rounda and decorated Home made canes win ne special tea- tures ot the sale. The Droaram on EBA rushing was given by Mrs. Craig Dish- man. Mrs. Kogan and urs. Moore served lovely refreshments to: Mrs. Ray Lorance, Mrs. Del Mc Kay, Mrs. Howard Thomas and Mrs. Craig Dishman. The next meeting will be Feb. 23 at the home of Mrs. Dale Roles.
