Bates of Rose- burg, became the' bride of Rich ard Dale Nelson of Roseburg, son of Mr. Richard Nelson of Gresh am, Nov. 28. The impressive dou ble ring ceremony took place at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Gresham with Dr. Lund officiat ing. The bride given in marriage by her father was lovely in a white lace over satin gown with the tra ditional long train. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a cap of satin and seed pearls. The bride's bouquet was a cascade of talisman roses. Maryalict Meeker of The Dalles, sister of the bride, "was matron of honor and wore a blue satin dress with net overskirt of coral and blue. The bridesmaids, Jack Pet erson, Ruth Anderegg, Sharlene Waters and Sharlene Lipoid, all of Gresham, wore dresses fash ioned Identical to the matron of honor's. Evelyn Bates of The Dalles, niece of the bride, was flower girl and wore a gown of yellow satin with net oeverskirt. Bill Pierson of Vancouver, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Jack Quay of Gresham was best man. Grant, first draftee to return to Camas Valley from the Korean War zone, was enertained recently at a welcome home party at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Grant, Camas Valley. The occa sion also marked the 21st birth day of Cpl. iGrant. Robert Grant received his basic training at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, from May through October, 1951 and was sent to Korea from Camp Stoneman, Calif. Covers were placed for I A , ' . , J f ' m s i " - '...; " - v V $ : ' " BACK FROM EUROPE Miss Marge Stephens, obove, returned to Roseburg this week from Heidelberg, Germany, where she has been employed for the last two years work ing for the United States Government with the U. S. Army in the quartermasters corps under Lt. Col. R. A. Pearson, Headquarters Command. During the two years, she visit ed 15 different countries, besides taking a Mediterranean cruise. Points of special interest she visited were: Paris, France; Vienna, Austria; the British Isles and Italy. ALPHA ZETA THETA RHO HOLDS MEETING RTCENTLY Alpha Zeta Theta Rho girls' Club held its general meeting Tues- Cyrus, president, and Shirley Gil lett, vice president, bad charge of the meeting. Plans were made for the district convention which will be held in Roseburg, March 21, 1953. The girls were asked to usher for the "Massiah", which will be presented by the Roseburg Choral Society, Dec. 14. After the business meeting the girls entertained four candidates, Virginia Bevans, Judy Burke, Joal Wilkinson and Loma McGrady, with a lovely drill. Virginia Cyrus sang, "The Blue Bird.' LATCHA KODA CAMP GIRL GROUP MAKES CHRISTMAS GIFTS The Latcha Koda Camp Fire group of St. Joseph's School met Wednesday to complete Christmas gifts for their mothers, after which the girls arranged their name symbolgrams. New officers elected included: Patricia Desbiens, president; Mary Lynne Parsons, vice president; and Patty Oliger, treasurer and scribe. The group will hold its Christmas party after school Dec. R, Walls, 2952 Walnut Lane, Rose burg, was the setting for a delight ful afternoon affair Sunday, cele brating the golden wedding anni versary of Mr. Woll's parents Mr. an Mrs. William C. Goetz, 107 North Flint Street. Fifty years ago on the same day as the reception was held, their wedding look place in Monte viiio, Minn. The table decorations for the affair were carried out in pule preen and white. The white lace tablecloth over pale green adorn ed the table. Large bouquets of chrysanthemums were used about VISITOR FROM NEW YORK Mrs. Bruce Burns, above, has been an Interesting visitor in Roseburg for the last two weeks, having returned here from her home in James town, N. Y., with her uncle,. H. 0. Pargeter, when he returned to his home on Clair Street, Roseburg, following a three weeks' trip to New York. Mrs. Burns, who was form erly Miss Virginia Gilmour, is a daughter of Mrs. Edyth Gilmour and the sister of Mrs. Charles S. Collins of this city. She left today for her home in New York. Camp bell on Winchester St. Following the delectable lunch eon, Mrs. Stark called a business meeting. Plans were completed for tho members to entertain their hus bands at a 6:45 dinner, Dec. 20. All members planning to go, are asked to make reservations by Dec. 15, by phoning 8-5901 or 3-6283. Following the dinner, the group will go to the Paul Gedde homo on E. Lane St., where a Christmas program, plauned by Mrs. E. S. Hall, will be presented and games will be enjoyed under the direction ot Mrs. is. K. ELKS MEMORIAL SERVICE AND TEA ENJOYED SUNDAY The Elki Memorial Service at the Elks Temple Sunday afternoon was followed by a tea in the Lounge attended by Elks members ancl friends Mrs. Horace Berg arranged the nonday lame, which was centered with a large Christmas candle complimenting a snow-covered tree. Mrs. Berg and Mrs. Alton Dal ros (wife of Roseburg BPOE Ex alted Ruler Dalros) presided at the tea table. Assisting with the serving were: Mrs. Frank Bislak, Mrs. Robert Irving, Mrs. L. C. Latham, Mrs. Don Johnson, Mrs. Oscar Revell, Mrs. W. H. Alien, Mrs. Joe Brant and Mrs. E. A. tJohnson. Mrs. Marshall Haughn prepared the re freshments. RETIRED CIVIL EMPLOYEES DOUGLAS COUNTY CHAPTER TO MEET AT HARPHAM HOME There will be a meeting of Douglas County Chapter No. 212, Retired Civil Employees at the home of Mr. V. V. Harpham, 1702 E.
