Is it the manufacturer? The distributor? The retailer or the consumer? Does ANYBODY ever get ANYTHING for nothing that isn't paid for by SOMEBODY? Consider, pleose, the offer of $50 or $200 worth of "free" frozen foods (or claims up to 30i savings on food bills) with the purchase of a frozen food freezer from certain dealers. Where d:es the $50 or $200 come from if it isn't in the selling price of the freezer? Is tht manufacturer selling his product ot a loss? Is the distributor or retailer in business to "give" things awoy? Is the freezer so exorbitantly priced thot it affords a profit after it has been filled with $200 worth of "free" foods' Furthermore, the Department of Agriculture reports that "savings" on food Dills resulting from the purchase of a frozen food freezer have been found to be "negligible," and not coming near the claims which have been made by television, radio and newspaper advertising. Better Business Bureaus and other agencies and groups have made similar reports, yet supposedly honest bus inessmen who hove suffered loss of bushess ond prestige os a result of these misrepresentations, have soid nothing ond done nothing to stop them. Small businesses particularly; have been hurt, and the harm has not been confined to small refrigerator dealers or store keepers. It seems to ut that manufacturer wht market a worthwhile product, which the froien food freexer is, should lay their product down at a fair price and than do everything to help the distributor ond retailor MARKET that product t a fair price. There it no other way to do buiinatt henetriy, and na other way to maintain and expand the American lytttm af fair pricet, fair wage end fair profftt.
