12 Thg Nvi-IUvlew, Rafeburg.Ort. Mon., Oct. 13, 1952 SUNSET GARDEN CLUB HAS TUESDAY MEETING The Sunset Garden Club met Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the home of ' Mrs. Lew Shigiey in Winston. The potluck luncheon was served at noon from the lace covered dining table. The business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. A. M. Johnson. Mrs. Frances Col lins, secretary-treasurer, gave her regular report. Dues for the year were collected, and plans were discussed for subscribing to some good gardening magazine with the proceeds. An interesting discussion on the culture of day lillies and red hot pokers were the highlight of the afternoon. Mrs. Lulu Post and Mrs. Johnson read some in teresting articles on their care. Slins and plants were exchanged. The gardens of Mrs. Shigley and Mrs. Leo MaruKe were inspecieu and admired. The group plan lo meet Oct. 21 at the home of Mrs. Manske at 10:!M) for a "Flild Day" excursion. Destinations will be announced lati-r. The next regular meeting of the club will be held at the home of Mrs. R. B. Ilarryman on Kent Creek, Tuesday, Nov. 4, with a potluck luncheon. Liberal trade-in Low monthly terms TENMILE LADIES CLUB TO SEND NAVY PACKAGE Mrs. Gladys Welch and Mrs. Mozelle Welch were hostesses to members of the Tenmile Ladies Club when they met at the club house Tuesday, Oct. 7, for an all day meeting with a delicious pot luck dinner served at noon. Time was spent visiting, after which the business meeting wes called to order by the president, Mrs. Minnie Melius. Mrs. Amy Kibe and Mrs. Min nie Melius volunteered to fix a birthday packdge to send to Dwight Rines Jr. who is in the Navy at Alameda, Calif. The club is going to start quilt ing for Mrs. Bessie Smith at the next meeting. Marlin Yodcr, principal of the Camas Valley School, will speak at the next meeting on the school measures to be voted on in the coming election This meeting will be held at ihe Tenmile Ladies Clubhouse Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 1:30 pm. CLUB MEETS THURSDAY The Evergreen Grange Home Economics Club met at the hall Thursday, Oct. 8, or a potluck luncheon at noon. Plans were made to hold a rummage sale Saturday Nov. 15 at the Episcopal Parish Hall. Members present were Cecelia Conklin, chairman; Margaret Mc Cord, secretary; Blanche Tipton, Edith Bond, Mabel Garrick, Mar garet Burt, Frances Weaver, Jes sie Thomas, Olivia Lander, Nelle Lander, Mabel I.ange, Garnett Folmsbee, Sarah Cyrus, Betty Im pagliazzo, Mettic Swanson, Reme Jenkins, Kubie Bloom, Kubie Bak er and Mabel Burr. The next meeting will be held at Ihe home of Sarah Cyrus with Mabel Garrick and Betty Impagli azzo as co-hostesses. Members are asked to bring table service for the potluck luncheon at noon. WSCS OF FIRST METHODIST CHURCH HAS SESSION The Woman's Society of Chris tian Service of the First Metho dist Church met Oct. at 10:30 with Mrs. J. M. Boylei, leader of the study group, in charge. A study was made of the people in Latin America before Circle 2 served the 12:30 dessert luncheon. ' Mrs. Keller, president, opened the business session and Mrs. C. D. Dodge had charge of the de votions. Mrs. Canaday gave the program, "Work In the Foreign Countries," and Mrs. Feller had 1 charge of part of Ihe business ses 1 sion. AXEL JEFFERSON AND IVA MAY RICE WED OCTOBER 0 Axel Jefferson of Camas Valley and Iva May Rice of 91J Hamilton St., Roseburg, were united in mar-1 riage at Vancouver, Wash. Oct. 6. i Mr. Jefferson is a rancher at Camas Valley, and the new Mrs. Jefferson has been employed at the Roseburg Furniture Exchange for the past several years. The couple will be at home to their friends after Oct. 20 at tne ranch. RIDDLE HOME UNIT TO MEET ON TUESDAY The Riddle Home Demonstra tion Unit will have a sack lunch Tuesday at the Guild Hall at 10:30 a.m. Maggie Nichols will present the program on making nylon cor sages. Ralph Loomis resigned as president, and Mrs. Alecn Thomas was elected lo complete the term. . Plans were made to conduct the meetings the same as last year.
