KRNR To Be Saluted By Radio's Cavalcade "This Is Radio," a cavalcade of radio from 1926 to 1952, will sa lute radio station KRNR as one of five new CBS affiliates on the West Coast Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8:30 p.m. Presented by the KNX-Columbia Pacific Radio Network, the pro gram will feature Frank Goss as host for the program which in cludes songs by Roberta Linn and Harry Babbitt. Shoemaker has returned to her home at 117 East Lane Street, Roseburg, from a trip east. She soent a week in Duluth, Minn.. with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shoemaker, and family, who then moved to Madison. Wis., where Mrs. bnoc maker spent three weeks with them. Robert Shoemaker has been workine during the summer months at Duluth in the research laboratory of the Oliver Iron Min ing Company, lie has a lenowsnip in research work at the University there. Fear Of Slaying Doesn't Prevent Prison Sentence ! PORTLAND Ifl A man was sent to prison Wednesday despite protests from his attorney that angered convicts there might kill him. Tony R. Hanna, 29, was sentenc ed to a three-year term on a burglary conviction. William Jones, his attorney, protested that since Hanna was given credit for helping to prevent the escape of Wayne LeRoy Long, since executed for murder, he faced punishment possibly death from other in mates. Judge Frank J. Lonergan asked: "What would you hav me do, send him to a hotel? Or maybe you would like to take him nome." Jones said Hanna had been knifed twice while in the peniten tiary previously. Judge Lonergan said Hanna must serve this time. He added that Warden Virgil O'Malley would be held responsible for his safety. Ohio uses about 45 million tons of soft coal a year. By J. R.
