Umpqua River and Potter Creek, Deer
(Jreeu and miscellaneous streams, tribu
taries of North Umpqua River, for the
development of a power protect in Doug
las County, Oregon, consisting of two
units designated on the records of the
Commission as Project No. 21, Units No.
1 and No. 2 and by the applicant as the
Lcmoio Developments No. 1 and No. 2.
For Lemolo Development No. 1 the
applicant proposes to appropriate a max
imum of ,iB5 cubic feel per second of
water of North Umpqua Hiver and di
vert the same by means of a dam with
a maximum height of 120 feet, to be
locuted 1H.670 feet north and ..4.610 feet
east of the southeast corner of Section
24. Township 26 South, Range 3 East,
W.M., through a conduit and penstock
about 4.5 miles long to a turbine con
nected to a 29,000 KW generator located

The dam would form a reservoir cover
ing about 41.5 acres and would store
13.900 acre feet of water.

PORTLAND Ifl A man was
sent to prison Wednesday despite
protests from his attorney that
angered convicts there might kill
him.
Tony R. Hanna, 29, was sentenc
ed to a three-year term on a
burglary conviction. William
Jones, his attorney, protested that
since Hanna was given credit for
helping to prevent the escape of
Wayne LeRoy Long, since executed
for murder, he faced punishment
possibly death from other in
mates. Judge Frank J. Lonergan asked:
"What would you hav me do, send
him to a hotel? Or maybe you
would like to take him nome."
Jones said Hanna had been
knifed twice while in the peniten
tiary previously.
Judge Lonergan said Hanna must
serve this time. He added that
Warden Virgil O'Malley would be
held responsible for his safety.
Ohio uses about 45 million tons
of soft coal a year.
