Kelly, discharged ' Aug. 1 and an appraiser with the State Veterans Affairs office. Kelly, who had worked for the office since April, 1948, had been ! released for "inability to work with fellow employes." Kelly charged the dismissal was the result of inter-office politics. The commission dismissed an appeal from Neal Buxton, Pendle , ton, who had requested a hearing after being discharged from his i job as hospital aide at the East ; ern Oregon State Hospital. (Picture by Paul Jenkins) m -1 v i j Hospital Fund Drive At Hermiston Extended HERMISTON I Hermiston has extended its fund drive for a new hospital until Saturday, At the deadline Wednesday night, Mert K. Ransom, chairman of the hospital drive association, said the needed $110,000, including $35,000 in cash, had not been pledged. Fergusson, Glendale osteopathic physician, and his wife attended a conference in Portland Friday through Sunday of Seventh Day Adventist doctors, dentists and nurses. Tne purpose of the meetings, according to Dr. Fergusson, was to discuss ways of integrating the work of Seventh Day Adventist ministers and doc tors in a community and to present a special plan for four doctors and one dentist to accept the chat lenge of foreign mission work and to go to Africa and Southern Asia where the need is especially great at this time. Mrs. Mildred Olinghouse of Azal ea underwent minor surgery at Canyonville Forest Glen Hospital Tuesday morning. She will tie hos pitalized a couple of days. Clifford Alson of Portland a former supply pastor at the Oli vet Presbyterian Church in Glen dale. visited old friends in Glen dale during the early part of this week. Rev. Alson spent the past year studying in Scotland. Monday night, a group of friends gathered at the Bill Wunsch home to visit with Rev. Alson and to see his colored motion pictures which he had taken in various parts of Europe. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Cornett. Glendale residents for the past one and one-half years, have moved to Drain. Mrs. Eaton and daughter, Ber- nadine, were in town last week visiting old friends. Go To Portland Mrs. Sebre Howard spent the past weekend in Portland on combined business and pleasure trip. The Cottage Prayer Meeting held by the Glendale Baptist Church will be at the Weatherall home next week. Rev. and Mrs. Don ScrJbner and family visited the redwoods last Thursday and Friday, going as far as Eureka, Calif., before re turning to Glendale. The Scribners, who came here from Ohio, fport that the children enjoyed their first dip in the oeean. Mrs. Mary Worley and sons left last Tuesday to visit relatives in the East. The Glendale Baptist Church was pleased this week to receive the gift of some extra seating fur niture from the Roseburg Baptist Church. According to Rev. Don Scribner, pastor, the group still in need of a piano stool. Hospital Chock Up Mrs. At Weeks and son. Glen. were in Portland the first of last week so Glen might have another check-up at Dornbecker Hospital there. Glen, who was the victim of sleeping sickness a few months back, is well over the disease, and according to the Portland doctors, is making good progress in over coming alter-ettecis. Mrs. Ed Harris was ill at her home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Schcrffius of Glendale have as their house guest Mrs. J. O. Bang of Kodiak. Alaska. Mrs. Bang will be visiting in Grants Pass later, before re turning to her home. Grandma Pearson, mother of Mrs. W. H. Lundy. has left Glen dale to make her home in Cali fornia. Mrs. Pearson has lived in Glendale for a number of years. Mrs. Grace Horton, who has been visiting with the Floyd Ames family here, was drivea up to Azalea on Wednesday of last week to spend a few days with Mrs. 11a Quirk.
