Mrs. Pontius, president, conducted the session. Mrs. Anne Kingery had charge of the pro gram. An interesting paper on how the WSCS became a member of the World Federation of Metho dist Churches was read. This So ciety supports missionary work all over the world. Mrs. Cabaness discussed t h e Northcotes' trip to North Africa. During the afternuon business ses sion, Mrs. Jack, who left to make her home in Klamath Palls, re signed from the vice-presidency. The position was filled by Mrs. Lucille Grass. Mrs. Jeannic Lee was elected to another position. The Society decided to hold meetings at two o'clock the fourth Thursday of every month. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Eric Stcnscth and Mrs. J. N. Thun., Aug. 21, 1952 . . - mi SUTHERLIN ASSOCIATED BUSINESS WOMAN'S CLUB ENJOY MONDAY PICNIC The Associated Business Wom an's Club of Sutherlin held a very enjoyable picnic Monday evening at tho summer picnic grounds of Mrs. Wesley (Curly) Thompson, on the Calapooia, east of town. Barbecued salmon was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Betty Haines, Mrs. Connie Smith, and Mrs. Marian Buchanan. A short business meeting was held around the bonfire after the dinner, with Mrs. Blakelcy, presi dent, conducting the session. Var ious matters of business were dis cussed and action was taken. It was voted to send some Indians from this community to the Ump qua Calvacadc. The next regular meeting of the club will be held Monday eve ning, September 15, at the home of Mrs. Ruth Nicolozzi, on East Third Avenue. Those present to enjoy the eve ning were: Mrs. Betty Corrcll, Mrs. Dolores Jackson, Mrs. Ivena Halverson, Mrs. Ora Irwin. Mrs. Billie Williams assisted by Mrs. Ann Se cord, was hostess. At noon a bountiful potluck din ner wa enjoyed by the Mesdames Maggie Francis, tfclma Brauning cr, Jennie Harrison, Dorothy Nor ton, Jean Smith, Jeanctte Loerts, Harold Austin, and the hostesses, Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Secord. Aa the work was not completed the club will meet again Friday, August 22, at 10 o'clock to finish. A potluck dinner will be served at noon. The next meeting of the club will be held Friday, Sept. 19, at the home of Mrs. Ann Secord east of Sutherlin. Roll call will be "Hap piest Moments of My Life." Mrs. Williams reported more material had been gathered for work. Roll call was answered with "How I Fixed It," with Mrs. Lo erts, chairman presiding. A bulb sale was held at the close of the meeting. AZALEA GRANGE HOLDS OUTDOOR DINNER RECENTLY The Azalea Grange held an out door dinner August 15 in the beau tiful picnic yard at the home of I Mr. and Mrs. James Croff. After i the dinner, the members enjoyed 1 an evening's entertainment of mo tion pictures of local happenings and trips. One reel was of a trip to Florida taken last summer when Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Worley were on their vacation. Another reel was of the Roseburg Rodeo. A third film showed the Grants Pass Gladiolus Parade. Howard Charvaras had charge of the pictures. He described the film of the Elk hunt he and some friends enjoyed last season. Thirty-five people enjoyed the evening. WOMEN OF THE MOOSE DATE CANDY SALE The Women of the Moose will hold a eandy sale, Saturday, Aug ust 23, in front of the J. C. Penney Store. Members are asked to bring their candy by 9:30 a.m. or con tact Lois Perry, Hospital Guild chairman, phone 3-8494. AZALEA GARDEN CLUB MEETS AT CROFF HOME The Azalea Garden Club met at the home of Grace Croff for a regular meeting recently. Eight een members were present. The afternoon was spent looking over the yard where the regular Gar den Club business was transacted. Lovely refreshments were serv ed to the members and guests. CANDY SALE PLANNED BY PYTHIAN SISTERS The Pythian Sisters will hold a candy sale in front of the J. C. Penney Store Friday, August 22. Members are requested to have candy there by 10 a.m. The public is invited . TAU ETA ETA RUMMAGE SALE DATED SATURDAY Tail Eta Eta will hold a rum mage sale Saturday, August 23, at St. George's Episcopal Parish Hall. Proceeds are to go towards record players for the local hos pitals. The public is invited. Reds Complain About Too Much 'Bad Jazz' BELGRADE, I The news paper Borba, voice of Marshiil Tito's Communist Party, recently complained that there is too much "jazz". And bad jazz at that. Few who have listened to some attempts to strike the same notes as top American bands would dis agree. Borba agreed that jazz itse!f is okay. But with this condition: "On Iv when the composer and repor ducing artist are talented and masters of their profession."
