In the event of cold weather or rain, the pot luck will be held at the home of Mrs. Helen Lane, 313 E. Oak Street. Those attending are asked to bring their own table service. New officers include: Dean Collins, president; James Buttlcr, vice president; Mary Bird, secretary treasurer: and Howard Bird, board member to serve a three, year term. Retiring officers include: Art Johnson, president; Carl Borgaes, vice-president; Reba Buttler, secretary-treasurer; and Elmer Hun ter, board member, whose term expired. The membership drive ' Is underway. Active members of the club have been divided into two competitive groups with A. W. McGuire and Bill Tipton serving as captains. It has been stressed that anyone residing within the Winston - Dillard - Brockway communities Is eligible to join the organization. Membership cards may be obtained by contacting either of the two captains or any active member of the club. Plans are slill being worked out in regard lo the park area on the clubhouse grounds. Support of the local citizens is imperative if the project is to materialize, accord ing lo the committee in charge. All residents in Winston and sur rounding communities interested in furthering the cause are re quested to make an effort to at tend the next meeting which is scheduled for Thursday evening, June 5. x BETA GAMMA CHAPTER EPSILON SIGMA ALPHA DATES INSTALLATION Beta Gamma Chapter, Epsilon Sigma Alpha will meet tomorrow at the home of Mrs. Marvin Doty, 1102 Military, at 8 p.m. There will be a formal installation of officers. This is an annual event and promises to be one of the most enjoyable as well as worthwhile affairs to be sponsored by the Fullerton Parent-Teacher Associ ation this year, according to ad vance information supplied b y Mrs. Chester Hamm, who ii in charge of arrangements for the occasion. A program has been planned specially to introduce youngsters to school atmosphere, and to ac quaint their mothers with the prep aration which they and their chil dren should make for that eventful day which is marked by the opening of school in September. Mrs. Bernard Young, PTA presi dent, has indicated that there will be further announcements about the outstanding features which will mark Fullerton's pre-school tea this year. Mrs. Harold Backen Jr. Is In charge of refreshments and ar ranging the tea table. When the custom of holding a tea for mothers of pre-schoolers was inaugurated, Mrs. Dorothy Kitchen, school nurse, and John Lucas, director of special educa tion, felt that it was indeed an opportunity for mothers, children and teachers to become acquaint ed and to bridge the gap between home and school so that starting the first grade would be easier for all concerned. Mrs. Young and her committees have been in consultation with the school principal, Lyle Eddy, and with the three first grade teach ers, Mrs. Edna Matthews, Mrs. Bonita Wikoff . and Mrs. Goldie Davidson- In working out arrange ments, with a view to making this a most profitable afternoon. NEW OFFICERS ARE INSTALLED WEDNESDAY Umpqua District Dental Assis tants held a formal, no-hostess Chinese dinner at the home of Dr. Eleanor Carlson, 330 E. Wash ington Street, last Wednesday eve ning at 7:30 o'clock. Clara Clark, vice president, con ducted the meeting, in the absence of the president, Pauline Wilker- son, who was ill. Flora Rolfsness and Jane Wood were also reported ill. The girls were asked to turn in their lead foil by May 26. Dr. Eleanor Carlson, who is the group advisor and installing offi cer, gave a beautiful installation ceremony, inviting the new offi. cers to each light their own taper from the "Candle of Friendship," then presented them to the group. Officers installed for the year were: President, Ethelmae Wil son: Vice President, Barbara Smith; secretary treasurer, Bev. erly Nordquist. Gardenia corsages, sprayed with green and blue and silver, wcrp presented to the new officers and Dr. Carlson, by Joy Augustus, on behalf of the group. Tne house and" tables were dec orated with roses and snapdrag ons. There being no business meet ings held (hiring the summer, the next regular meeting will be Sept. 10. The location and hostess will be announced laler. Members attending were Anna Lou Burdette and Beverly Nord quist, Sulherlin; Pearl Carter and Esther Daniels, Myrtle Creek, and .loann Cornutt, Barbara Smith, Ethel Mae Wilson, Jackie Schind ler, Clara Clark, Joy Augustus and Dr. Carlson, YOUNG ADULTS OF FIRST METHODIST CHURCH MEET A lively discussion and business meeting of Young Adults took place in the R. E. llorton home May 16. Roland Worth, president, presided. Rev. Walter A. MacArtluir had as his topic for the evening. "Mar riage and Financial Problems," which is one of a series of mar riage counseling talks he has been giving the group. Delicious refreshments were served by the host and hostess at the close of the evening. Attending were: Rev. and Mrs. W. A. MaeArthur, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Buswcll, Mr. and Mrs. Al De Molt. The hostess was ably assisted by Mrs. Irene Geddes and Mrs. Margaret Me Cord. The rooms were lavishly decorated throughout in bouquets of rhododendron and colorful iris, in clever arrangements. Many interesting contest games were introduced by the hostesses with the winning prizes awarded to Mrs. Jo Lesher, Miss Dorothy Buttler, Mrs. Velma Albertus and Mrs. Othal Barnes.
