Initial plans for construction of the church were laid three years ago, and the sanctuary '.was completed in February. For a year the Baptist congregation met in the armory and for ;18 months in the first story of the church, which was completed first. Dedication services will ; be held April 6 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Underworld Disgorging Huge Income Tax Sum WASHINGTON W The gov ernment expects to collect at least 180 million dollars in income taxes from the crime world this year as the result of the Internal Revenue Bureau's "operation racketeer." Bureau officials said Sunday more than 80 million already has been collected from 4,851 racke teers. At this rate, they expect to round up as many as 16,800 crooks and tap them for 180 million dol lars all told. Almost 300 racketeers have been Indicted in the past seven months for criminal tax frauds, and the bureau thinks it will jail possibly 600 during 1952. "Operation racketeer" was launched last spring after several months of organization work that Included recruiting more than 2,000 agents in 117 squads which then were given special training. The jolting drive on the crime world started with a master list of 27,734 known or suspected rack eteers furnished by local police, Senate Crime Committee Investi gators, newspapers and others. It has now grown to 37,400 and is expanding at the rate of 1,200 a month. , ',, .-. So far, about seven iXit of every 10 racketeers checked have been found in arrears in their taxes. The average collection has been $18,652. The largest assessment was $3,334,805 against Josiah M. Kirby of Costa Mesa, Calif. Indictments or liens have been filed against many better known names, including some witnesses of the Senate Crime Committee in vestigation.
