ELMER LARSON ENTERTAINS KNITTING CLUB AT LUNCHEON Mrs. Elmer Larson entertained her knitting club at a 1:30 o'clock dessert - luncheon Wednesday at her bnaclous home west of buuur- lin. GRANGE MEETING TUESDAY Following a delicious potluck din ner the regular Melrose Grange meeting with Paul Kreuger presid ing was held Tuesday evening. It was reported that the veteran, Tom Dempsey, which the Grange pur chased a radio for last fall, re cently hid an operation on his eyes and Is able to see again. Cecelia Kenyon reported that dif ferent kinds of trees could be ob tained from the Forest Service Department for reforestation on places of 3 acres or more. A United Nations flag was pre sented to the Grange from the Mel rose Home Extension Unit. The lecturer, Connie Showers, present ed a program of Valentine read ings by the officers, a solo by Ellen Hoffman and two skits by the mem bers. Group singing was enjoyed with Lorraine Veenstra at the pi ano. The social night was an nounced for Feb. 9. A card party will be held Friday Feb. 22, with Amy Matthews and Mable Busen bark In charge. The social night in March will be In charge of the men with Clarence DeCamp lis chairman. VICTORY CIRCLE MEETS AT KINYON HOME The Victory Circle of the First Baptist Church met at the home of Myrtle Kinyon Feb. 7 at ten o'clock for a breakfast. A gift was presented to a re cent bride, Phyllis Hutchinson. BELLVIEW CLUB MEETS AT ROSELUND HOME The Bcllview Club met Feb. 6 at the home of Ethel Roselund with Cora Collison as co-hostess. Eleanor Gilbreath, president, open ed the meeting and Mattie Gosnell, secretary, read the minutes. Plans were made for a cooked food and fancy work sale the last of March. A White Elephant sale will be held at the next meeting. This will also be a Pollyanna party and names will be exchanged for next year. Refreshments were served by the hostess. COTTON DRESS WORKSHOP STARTED AT GARDEN VALLEY Miss Nelda Norris and Mrs. C. L. Spray are conducting a cotton dress workshop for a group of Garden Valley women who plan to take instruction in March in the "Better Dress Workshop". The group met Monday and Wednes day at the Garden Valley Women's clubhouse to sew cotton dresses. This course must be taken first in order for participant to be el igible to take the course in making better dresses that will be given in March at the Riversale Grange Hall with Miss Nelda Norris and Mrs. C. L. Spray as project lead ers. Ladies attending the cotton workshop are; Mrs. Joe Toman, Mrs. Clifford McKay, Mrs. Ellen Post, Mrs. Mayme Teeter, Mrs. Lyle Bostwick, Mrs. M. C.
