Mon., Jan. 21, 1952 JAY-CETTES HOLD JANUARY MEETING ' Mr. Charles Wright wa host ess for the Jay-C-Kttcs at their January meeting held at her home Wednesday. Mrs Sid Moon and Mrs. Ernest Barker Jr., were co hostesses. The committee appointed to for mulate a new Constitution and set of By-laws for the organization presented their proposed draft which will be voted upon at the February meeting. The following girls were nomin ated for office for the year 1952 Mrs. Sid Moon and Mrs. Walter Brittel for president; Mrs. Eldon Howard for vice-president, Mrs John fleeter for secretary and Mrs. Jay Golden and Mrs. Charles Wright for treasurer. Mrs 0. J. Fett outlined the pro gram for the mothers march on polio which the Jsy-C-Ettes have undertaken as their part in the present March of Dimes campaign. Following the business meeting, refreshments were served by the hostesses to the following mem bers; Mrs. Eldon Howard, Mrs. John Heeler, Mrs Glen Scott, Mrs. Jay Golden, Mrs. George Mc intosh, Mrs. Bob Murray, Mrs. Barrett Brcjka, Mrs. Bill Wilson, Mrs. Charles Hart, Mrs. Irv Pugh, Mrs. Waller Brittel, Mrs 0. J. Fett and Mrs. W T. Miles. The February meeting will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the home of Mrs. Gladys Hart with Mrs. Irv Pugh and Mrs. Wayne Crooch as co-hostesses. TWELVE AND WON CLUB HOLDS RECENT SESSION The Twelve and Won Club met at the home of Mrs. E. Princen Tuesday noon for a delicious lunch eon and social afternoon. The hostess wns assisted by Mrs. Fred Ritzman and Miss Bernar dine Princen, her daughter. Covers were set for Mrs. Fred Ritzman, Mrs. Fred Hargis, Mrs. N. E. Richardson, Miss Bernardine Princen and the hostess, Mrs. E Princen. A short business meeting was conducted by Mrs. N. E. Richard son in the absence of the president. Games and visiting were enay cd during the rest of the afternoon. OAKLAND CHAPTER OP EASTERN STAR HOLDS INSTALLATION CEREMONY Oakland Chapter, No. 91, Order of Eastern Star, held a public installation of officers Thursday evening, Jan. 10, at the Masonic Temple, Oakland It was preceded by a regular meeting at eight o'clock, presided over by Mrs. Vir ginia Stacey, worthy matron. The rooms were artistically dec orated. ' Order of ceremonies for the in stallation was as follows: Mrs Juanita Holgate, worthy matron; William Crowell, worthy patron; Mrs. Naomi Biggs, marshal. After an invocation and obliga tion, the following tooK place: Mary Barker was installed as worthy matron for 1952, followed by a song "My Task" sung by Juanita Holgate. Loyal Stearns was worthy patron a song "Bless This House" was sung for him by his daughter, Sue. Electa. After the installation two num bers, "Alice Blue Gown" and "When I Grow Too Old To Dream," by Juanita Holgate and Margaret 1'arrott, were sung. Courtesy girls for this year to be known as "Chickarie Chicks," are Juanita Holgate, captain; Jean Treman, pianist; Kathrine Rod man, Gertrude Hibbard, Helen Mc Fetridge, Lucretia Ross, Doris Steinbach, Marion Turner, Doro thy Austin and Alfreda Endresln. Th retiring worthy matron and worthy patron, Virginia Stacey and Delmar Murphy were escort ed to the East and presented with pins from the chapter. The Courtesy Girls presented drill for Virginia Stacey and gave her a gift from her officers. After the meeting refreshments of cake and coffee were served in the newly decorated hall down stairs. SANDRA MCNEIL HAS BIRTHDAY PARTY SURPRISE RECENTLY Sandra McNeil celebrated her fifth birthday with a party Wednes day afternoon. Present were Judy Ann Mode, Norman Smith, Archie and Terry Williams, Johnny Lea venhagen and Marilyn McNeil. After school, Sandra's brothers and sisters and three of their friends were served birthday cake. WOMEN'S MISSIONARY COUNCIL MEETS AT MRS. HAINES HOME The Women's Missionary Coun- c 1 of the Assembly of God Church, Elkton, held a meeting at the home of Mrs. Walter Haines Thursday, Jan. 10. A pot luck dinner was served. Mrs. Mills was honored with a lovely cake and a handkerchief ahnwRF in honor of her birthday. The afternoon was spent with scripture reading and prayer. High prizes in pinochle were won by Mrs. Nelda Sand and David Sand and low went to Mrs. Warren Lu cas and Richard Hart EDEN LADIES AID HOLDS TUESDAY SESSION The Eden Ladies Aid met Tues day afternoon at the home of Louis Keefer with Mrs. Hoakland as hostess. Rev. Willis Erickson read the devotional with Mrs. Hildur John son, president, conducting the busi ness session. Plans were made by the aid to make a friendship quilt. Refreshments were served to Rev. and Mrs. Willis Erickson, Mrs. Elsie Anderson, Mrs. Lily Thompson, Mrs. Mable Backlund, Mrs. Edna Sjogren, Mrs. Evelyn Warren, Mrs. Holdun Johnson, Mrs. Emilie Hargesheimer and daughter, Carol and the hostesses, Mrs. Hoaglund and Louis Kelfer. The next meeting will be Feb. 19 at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Willis Erickson in Roseburg. DR. SINCLAIR SPEAKER AT THETA IOTA CHAPTER EPSILON SIOMA ALPHA Dr. Sinclair, Phd, psychologist from the Veterans Hospital, was guest speaker at the regular meet ing of Theta Iota Chapter Epsilon Sigma Alpha. Dr. Sinclair spoke on mental hygiene. The group met Thursday night, Jan. 10, at the home of Mrs. Ray Ward. Mrs. Dale Woodruff was co hostess. Miss Lauralee Winniford Following the address by Dr. MELROSE FRIENDLY HOUR CLUB HOLDS ALL DAY MEETING The Melrose Friendly Hour Club met all day Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Louise Morris for a potluck luncheon at noon. A birthday cake was served honor ing the president, Mrs. Willamina Bonebrake. The hours were spent in textile S aiming. The next meeting will e at one o'clock, Feb. 6, at the home of Mrs. Willamina Bone brake. The roll call subject will be Lin coln and Washington. Valentines are to be brought for secret pals. Mrs. Norma Fenn will have charge of the program.
