KELLER ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED RECENTLY Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Keller Were complimented' on their sil ver wedding anniversary at a charming reception given by the latier'i orother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Roberty Doty, Sat urday evening at the Doty home. Gifts of sterling were presented to Mr. and Mrs. Keller from Mr. and Mrs. Ross Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Brady Montgomery, Mr. and Mrs. Art Myers, Mr. and Mrs. William Peifer, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Myers, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Phil--lips, Mr. and Mrs. William Las liter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keefe, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Holbrook, Mrs. Gertrude Ricbman, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Doty and children, Ruthle and Edward; Mr. and Mrs. John Weber, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Roark and Orville Richman. A bouquet of chrysanthemums graced the serving table. A silver service was placed at one end of the table and the two-tiered dec orated cake was placed at the other end of the table. Mrs. Rob ert Keefe poured. Mrs. Doty was assisted in serving by Mrs. Rich man. Mrs. Lassiter had charge of the guest book. , On the following day, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keefe entertained at a surprise dinner party at five o'clock at their home in compli ment to Mr. and Mrs. Keller. Ruthie and Edward, and the host and hostess. Cards were enjoyed during the pleasant evening hours. Mrs. Keller was formerly For rest Wigbtman. They were mar ried Nov. 3, 1926. in Oakland, Calif. They moved to Roseburg five years ago. They own and oner ate Kellers' grocery at 720 S. Main street. (See picture on page 5) ROSEBURG WOMAN'S CLUB HAS INTERESTING PROGRAM TUESDAY Two Unifcd Nations flaes and posted articles regarding United Nations work carried out the decor ations for the meeting of the Rose burg Woman's club Tuesday after noon in the social rooms of the First Methodist church. Mrs. Earl Plummer, president, conducted the meeting. ' Mrs. A. J. Geddes, program chairman for the day, introduced the panel speakers, who discussed International relations and in cluded Miss Marie Martens, Mrs. H. A. Canaday, Miss Muriel Mitch ell and Mrs. T. T. Clark. The Tiller Troupers presented "Three Scenes from Any City," by Mrs. Horace Corbett and Mrs. Milton Andrews, which was greatly enjoyed by the members and guests. MU CHAPTER HAS MEETING WEDNESDAY AT GEORGE QUINE HOME Mu chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, met with Mrs. George Quine Wed nesday evening. Very cleverly de signed program books for the year were presented to the members. Several ideas for a service proj ect were submitted and discussed. The group decided to hold a rum mage sale at a date to be an nounced later. The dance originally planned for Nov. 9, has been postponed to Nov. 16 to be held at the Country club and which is open to all mem bers of Beta Sigma Phi and their guests. The next meeting will be held Nov. 28 at the home of Mrs. C. Chitwood on the Melrose road. This meeting is being held one week later rather than having it the evening before Thanksgiving. This will be the formal pledging cere mony. The cultural programs were pre sented by Mrs. Jack Bathric and Mrs. James Finlay, after which refreshments were served by Mrs. Quine and Mrs. C. The occasion was the re hearsal for the skit entitled "The New Expansion Program," in full costume, which was presented at the party given by Mrs. Stanford Buell Monday evening. ELSIE ISAKSON IS HONORED AT SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY Mis. Dorothy St. Peter recently sponsored a surprise party in honor of the birthday of Elsie Isakson at the latter's home. Those present were r rann ana Peggy Kent. Le- ora and Virgil Lynn and Lola and Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Wulff and family; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Burgess and Sharon and Ar lan. The group was entertained during the evening by violin and guitar music presented by Miss Lynn and Mr. Wulff. A beautifully decorated cake was served at the close of the evening. JOLLY CIRCLE CLUB MEETING IS HELD WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON Mrs. Ethel Sanders entertained the members of the Jolly Circle club at a lovely dessert-luncheon Wednesday afternoon with seven members present. During the busi ness meetng plan were made for a Dutch auction to be held in the near future. It was decided to give a gift from the club to the Sand ers baby. Those present were Leora Lynn, Violet BurgeM and Sharon and Ar lan; Evelyn ttowen, Clara Evans, Gertrude Davis, Elsie Isakson and Donnie and Carol; and the hostess, Ethel Sanders and Terry. The next meeting' will be held Nov. 14 at the home of Elsie Isak son, at which time a pink and blue shower will be given in honor of Erma Dean McKinney. All mem bers and friends are cordially in vited. BEAUTICIANS OBSERVE NATIONAL BEAUTY SALON WEEK AT LUNCHEON There were 25 beauticians, shop owners and operators, attending the luncheon at the Umpqua hotel Wednesday noon in observance of National Beauty Salon week. Orla Schaver and Dorothy Raines were presented corsages congratulating them on their birth days. They also received greet ings in the form of a telegram from Joe Pepin of Beautician Sup ply, branch office in Medford. Mae Helland of Irene's Beauty shop, won the door prize, which is presented every month by cour tesy of Stenger Supply company, Portland, to the association. Mil ler's Mercantile donated window space for the week for the indivi dual shop displays observing Na tional Beauty Salon week. Ethel Oderkirk, president, announced the Christmas, party will be held Dec. 13. Members will be guests of the Lady Elks early in the evening, after which the group will go to the Shalimar room for a gift exchange. Assisting the group with the program at the Elks will be Bob Skelton, Coos Bay, one of Oregon's leading hair stylists. LOOKINGGLASS ROLLER SKATING CLUB HOLDS HALLOWEEN PARTY The Looklngglass Roller Skating club sponsored a Halloween cos tume party Wednesday evening in the school gym. Free skates were given to all who attended in cos tume. Among those awarded prizes in the under twelve group were: Jerry Robertson as the smallest child on skates; Jo Ann Forbes as a witch was judged the best girl; Larry Swift as a hobo, the best boy; and Eddie Meredith and Martha Kay Vance, the best couple. In the older group; Betty Jo Carlile as a gypsy, won the award as the best older girl cos tumed; Bobby Schulze as a pirate was judged the best boy; Pat Doye as an old man and Lorna Vance as autumn were named 'he best couple. Kenny Swift received the award as the oldest school boy on skates. Candy and confetti were fur nished by the sponsors and dough nuts and cider served by a com mittee from the PTA. The trick-or-treaters had a little - fun on the side, but the frolic at the gyrn seemed to provide ample observ ance of the night. MRS. Mrs. Pearl Anderson has been named as the new Child Welfare chairman for the unit, Mrs. Louise Young announced that a tape recording ot a discus sion between Mrs. Bellomy and Mr. Allen will be released the Legion auxiliary radio program Saturday evening. Mrs. Betty Moore announced that the Unit will purchase another hospital bed from their magazine sale.
