PICKENS ENTERTAIN WEDNESDAY FOR BRIDGE-SUPPER CLUB Mr. and Mrs, Ivan Pickens en tertained their bridge-supper club at a most delightful dinner at Carl's Haven Wednesday evening, after which the group went to the attractive home of the host and hostess on Fowler street. Covers wore placed for Mr. and Mrs. Chesijr Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lockwood, Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Coen and Mr. and Mrs. Pickens. High score for the evening's con tract bridge play was won by Mrs. Lockwood. WSCS HAS INTERESTING MEETING FOLLOWING DESSERT-LUNCHEON Circle No. 5 of the WSCS of the First Methodist church served a one o'clock dessert-luncheon at the regular meeting in the social hall of the church Thursday. Beautiful bouquets of tuberous begonias were used on the tables. The worship service was con ducted by Mrs. William Hoeft. The program, "Partners i n Obed ience," was given by Mrs. C. K. Rand, assisted by Mrs. A. S. Coen, Mrs. Earl Bleile, Mrs. Ver non Keel, Mrs. S. A. Warg and Mrs. Harl'Kelley. Circle meetings were an nounced for Nov. 29 as follows; No. 1, at home of Mrs. C. H. Those attending are asked to bring Mr. Stearns was born In Scotts- burg 97 years ago and has lived most of . his life in Oakland. He has traveled a great deal, but he still maintains that Douglas county is the best place to live. He still has his private office in the Stearns-Chenoweth store in Oak land and attends to his private business as well as conducting business regarding his ranch.
