By means of the Camp Fire membership card whir'n the bill fold contained, the riant owner was located and her billfold and money returned to her. One question on many people's minds these days is how military service may affect themselves or people they know. . . their jobs, their family security. People ask us, of course, about what happens to employees of Standard Oil Company of California. The answer shows what a big company can do. Standard Oilers come through this trying period in better financial shape than you might expect: r t , ii-JW , f U 'H'-,v ' ! , . .f rl I ;,. y ill u- iacinnmniiiiiitmiiai1iiiiiii In frmi m-f A" - - -r YTh r-Mi mi Let's take for example Bill, an average young Standard Oiler. Asa mechanic with the Company, he makes $368 a month. Among other benefit a he has company-paid life insur ance worth $4,420 and a pension plan paid for partly by Standard, partly by himself. Now. suppose BUI is called into the armed forces. One of the tough problems he might face is a lower income for his family. But, be cause Bill qualifies as to dependents and length of service with the Companv, he'll be helped by a plan Standard has for him. Bill leaves for active duty, he's given an extra month's salary. Then, every month, Standard sends his family a check to maks up the difference between his military pay and his Company pay. These checks can amount to as much as half his regular salary. j S Moreover, Bill's Company life insurance and pension are carried right along. The in surance is still paid for entirely by Standard. The pension, which Bill paid for in part while he was working, will continue ti grow . . . and now Standard of California pays it all. When Bill come, back from military nerv ier, hia job in waiting and all his benefit, are intact. He finds that Standard, having big economic resources, can and dra art tQ pre serve the human resources of th nation . . . people like himself and hia family This la fetindard'a "G. I.
