Ralph Houston and Bunker Par rish returned recently from taking their army pre-inductiou physical exams. Conn's hatchery had its first i hatch of turkeys last Friday. the home of Cltiford Woods of Callahan Trail was burned to the ground last Friday. Two of the boys were home at the time, but were unable to save anything. It was thought to have started from the fireplace. John Wellpot has accepted em ployment with the Terslege insur- ! ance office located on the highway 1 in Roseburg. I Mrs. Fred Becker is able to be up after being confined to her home I for a week. I Mrs. Nellie Meyers Is visiting ' indefinitely with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Marks of Riversdale. A politick supper preceded the regular Grange meeting Tuesday. A short program on Washington and Lincoln was presented during the lecturer's program. Ann Good, Virginia and Sylvia Fenn, Donna James, Joyce Northrop, Wanda Nelly. Fayetta Kenyon, Betty Kohloff, Shirlev Pankey, Margie Hanson, Dixie Woolen, Gin ger Kettleman, Lou Rae and Vir ginia Shraeder. George Crocker, son of Mrs. Jim Andrews, has been chosen to play in the all state football game Aug. 25 in Portland for the benefit of the Shriners hospital. Mrs. Mary Hanson has returned home after a three week visit with her sister, Mrs. O. E. Cooper. She plans to rtnrne there within the week to make her home. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Joyce Becker and Ginger Kettleman were princesses. Gary and Ronnie Johnson, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Johnson, are ill at their home with flu. The Elgarose Comfort club will sponsor a pinochle party March 3 at Elgarose school. Each lady is asked to bring cookies or sand wiches. The Portland Retail Trade bu reau asked Governor McKay to use his authority to put daylight saving time into effect April 29. The bureau said both Washington and California would be on fast time.
