The table was centered with a bouquet of yellow jasmine flanked by tall green ta pers, , - Coven were placed for: Mrs. Anna Hall, Mrs. Mary Barker, Mrs. Mabel Olsen, Mrs. llelmie Burns, Miss Luella Pleuard, Mrs. Juanita Holgate, Mrs. Mabel Ross, Mrs. Grace Wood, Mrs. Emma Vandenherg, Mrs. Ella Wegner, Mrs. Cora Allen, Mrs. Maude Cul ver, Mrs. Lucille Chase, Mrs. Alma Anderson, Mrs. Charlotte Parker, Mrs. Bertha Barge, Mrs. Belle Cook, Mrs. Leona Slack and the hostess, M rs. Braunuiger. The business meeting was in chargt of the president, Mrs. Chase. Mrs. Barker was admitted as a member. Letters were read front t h I club's adopted sister, Mrs. I'loU, at the 10OF Home in Portland, (hanking the members and the club for the many nice cardi and gifts she had received during her illness. The penny prize, furnished by Mrs. Slack, was won by Mrs. Barker. The door prize wag won by Mrs Burns. After the businesi meeting t social hour of games was enjoyed with Mrs. Slack winning first prize; Mrs. Ross, second and Mrs. Parker, low. Members voted to sponsor gallop ing breakfasts and other fund-raising projects and turn over the pro cerus to the polio committee at the conclusion of the current drive. Plans were also made to aid other welfare campaigns as they occur during the year. During the business session, an election of officers was held. Those who will serve during the com ing year are president, Mrs. Jim Krillson; secretary, Mrs. Vernon Bnstow; treasurer, Mrs. Art Graf fenburger, and publicity chairman, Mrs. Don Carlson. Mrs. Jim Brittson was hostess for Thursday's meeting and a pot- luck luncheon was enjoyed at noon. Those attending were the M e s dames L. W. APPLEGATE ENTERTAIN AT TURKEY DINNER TUESDAY EVENING Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Applegle entertained M a turkey dinner at their home Tuesday honoring 'he birthday of Archie Thomas a r, d the wedding anniversaries of vir. mid Mrs. Nobel Snider and Mrs. Gwen Sowell. The host and hostess were assisted by Mrs. Bertha Slock. Others present were Mrs. Archie Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Ap plegate, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eck ersley, Mrs. Zeller, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Applegate and Janice and Bobbie Applegate. STITCH AND CHATTER CLUB HAS MEETING The Stitch and Chatter club of Hayhurst community held a no hostess meeting at their hall Tues day. Plans were made to give a card party Jan. 19 at the hall. The proceeds will be used for the polio fund. For the present no more dances will be held at the Hayhurst hall, except a dance given by the Yoncalla Saddle club the last of the month as a benefit for the polio fund. Those present at the meeting were Mrs. Clara Vroman, Mrs. Mildred Edwards, Mrs. Likely, Mrs. Art Rychard, Mrs. Don Ry chard, Mrs. Lily Portlnck, Mrs. Mabel Williams, Mrs. Henry Hub bell and Mrs. Merle McKirdy. On Valentines day an evening hardlime party for H K. members and their husbands or a gentleman friend will be held at the hall at 7:45 p.m. This will take the place of the February meeting. It was voted to meet the second Wednesday of each month instead of rnday. Games, with Amy Kruse in charge, were e- joyed. Grangers Hear Speech On Farm Social Security Social security for farm workers was the subject of a speech given by Charles Wahl, club agriculture chairman, at the Sutherlin Grange meeting Wednesday evening in the Grange hall. Wahl quoted from Ihe January issue of The Country Gentleman. Master Lloyd Cornish presided and Lecturer Mrs. Lenor Horn led a game in which members did impersonations. Mrs. L. llaslam's group of Brownie scouts will give the pro gram Jan. 24. Guest speaker for that meeting will be a slate fire lleputv who will discuss fire pro tection.
