DELIGHTFUL MEETING
AT SLACK HOMS

The business meeting was in

club for the many nice cardi and
gifts she had received during her
illness.
The penny prize, furnished by
Mrs. Slack, was won by Mrs.
Barker. The door prize wag won
by Mrs Burns.
After the businesi meeting t
social hour of games was enjoyed
with Mrs. Slack winning first
prize; Mrs. Ross, second and Mrs.
Parker, low.
The place and date of the next
meeting will be announced later.

its January meeting at the Glide
Grange hall recently with Mrs
Cuinne McTaggart in charge of
the topic, "Furniture Arrange
ment.
Mi. Alda Brumbach, chairman,
conducted a short business meet
ing. The next meeting will be com
bined with Riversdale unit at the
ltiversdale hall at 10:30 i.-m. Feb.

Kitchens."! A sack lunch w:ll be

AID TO POLIO FUND
PLAN OF LAZY DAISY
CLUB MEMBERS
Plans for aiding the current
March of Dimes program were
made at the regular meeting of
the Lazy Daisy club Thursday.
Members voted to sponsor gallop
ing breakfasts and other fund-raising
projects and turn over the pro
cerus to the polio committee at
the conclusion of the current drive.
Plans were also made to aid other
welfare campaigns as they occur
during the year.
During the business session, an
election of officers was held. Those
who will serve during the com
ing year are president, Mrs. Jim
Krillson; secretary, Mrs. Vernon
Bnstow; treasurer, Mrs. Art Graf
fenburger, and publicity chairman,
Mrs. Don Carlson.
Mrs. Jim Brittson was hostess
for Thursday's meeting and a pot-
luck luncheon was enjoyed at noon.

STITCH AND CHATTER
CLUB HAS MEETING
The Stitch and Chatter club of
Hayhurst community held a no
hostess meeting at their hall Tues
day. Plans were made to give a
card party Jan. 19 at the hall.
The proceeds will be used for the
polio fund. For the present no
more dances will be held at the
Hayhurst hall, except a dance
given by the Yoncalla Saddle club
the last of the month as a benefit
for the polio fund.
Those present at the meeting
were Mrs. Clara Vroman, Mrs.
Mildred Edwards, Mrs. Likely,
Mrs. Art Rychard, Mrs. Don Ry
chard, Mrs. Lily Portlnck, Mrs.
Mabel Williams, Mrs. Henry Hub

next meeting of the club will be
held Jan. 23 with Mrs. Don Ry

Social Security
Social security for farm workers
was the subject of a speech given
by Charles Wahl, club agriculture
chairman, at the Sutherlin Grange
meeting Wednesday evening in the
Grange hall. Wahl quoted from
Ihe January issue of The Country
Gentleman.
Master Lloyd Cornish presided
and Lecturer Mrs. Lenor Horn led
a game in which members did
impersonations.
Mrs. L. llaslam's group of
Brownie scouts will give the pro
gram Jan. 24. Guest speaker for
that meeting will be a slate fire
lleputv who will discuss fire pro
tection. A potluck supper is also
